[MP1] - Fogging Properties
Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone knows what the Fogging Properties in the levels.txt for Max Payne 1 are used for, & how you would use them.

They look something like this:

Fogging = TRUE;
FogColor = ( 24, 24, 24 );
FogStart = 5.0;
FogEnd = 100.0;

I always thought that these settings had something to do with adjusting the distance at what you could see the edges of a map , i.e you could adjust these settings so that you could hide the edges of a map at shorter distances by Fogging the view.

However, when I adjust these Properties i can see no difference.

I'd be greatfull for any clues any one ?.......Cheers.

For your mod, try using the following and see how it looks:

Fogging = TRUE;
FogColor = ( 0, 0, 0 );
FogStart = 10.0;
FogEnd = 20.0;

You'll then probably know what it means.

Not really mate, as I found that fogging only really has an affect on the objects in a map rather then the base map itself, i.e it will start to fog out objects that go beyond the criterior that you set but it won't fog out map edges, even if they are beyond that criterior. I hope that makes sence, but thanks for your input anyway man as I can always relie on you for some helpfull sugestions mate, as anything is always worth a go......

This is strange. Because it's supposed to fog EVERYTHING. :|

Perhaps it's just my maps that are not big enough to see the differance then.

Not quite -- the worldsphere/skybox isn't affected by fog.

See this thread for details:

Yeah, because it's a completely separate thing. But what he was saying is that the level and the level objects are being dealt differently. :|

Edit: I just checked that thread. I didn't realize he was talking about the edge of the level showing up because skybox isn't appropriate.
