3D Models for Maps & Mods?
Does anybody know where I can find some JFDuke/EDuke32-compatible NPC models? I'd like some of my maps to be a little more 'lively'. Also, it might be useful to have a resource page/thread for models that can be used in maps and mods for these ports.

Here's a couple of links to AMC threads that might be handy. I should take a closer look at them myself.

What you need is a model, wether it's NPC or not depends on the coding.

And with that bit of useless information, I blow up my brains with a gallon of liquid TNT.

Re: 3D Models for Maps & Mods?
I know how to convert Half Life 2 (and CSS, DOD, etc...) models into MD3 format. There are lots of modelling/skinning sites for counterstrike from which you can get models. Copyright goes sort of "use as you like, but don't take credit nor payment". Make sure neither the model or skin is not Valve's original, 'cause that would be copyright infringement.

I'll post some screenies later of my convertions.

When is the last time you checked Polycount? Their models section has been down for as long as I have been modding (which is over four months now).

Last I looked it was fine, but that was a while ago. You will have to re-pose any MD3's you get as they will have Quake 3 poses rather than Duke poses.

But you have to give them credit for having a model site up twenty years before the web even existed.

Explain to me how it is a BAD THING to be chased by lots of scantily clad women?

Deathmatching in Q2 was fun with Caleb and Darth Vader.

The Caleb model for Q2 was very good indeed, the coat was properly animated (for a Q2 figure that is!) and it looked very good indeed.

Also Polycount was THE place to go to get essential utils for when we were doing MD2 models.

Whoopee one model.

The ogre is decent. The other model is crap. I havent even mentioned the fact that you could find these models in other places. Simply put, custom models are the way to go.

EDIT: And BlitZor...enough with the flame-baiting already. If you don't know of any other good model sites don't be ashamed to admit it.

Just learn how to model.

Yes but why would you need an animation for lets say the concreat barriers or the Armory Model Pack? Some of them can be used with out a need for animations is all im saying, some can improve the look a map ect.

So far the only good site that has been suggested is Blackrayne. What I would like now, I think, are some streetlamps, thugs, and riot police.

You can get street lamps from Blackrayne. And unless you can conver thugs and riot police from another game successfully you'll have to make them yourself, because I dont know of anywhere to get any.

If you've got some finished, I think you ought to release them. I can't ask anyone to commit to anything on my behalf though, because I haven't really committed to my project that could use the models. I would like to see some pictures of those robots and guns, however.

(I think I'll do some serious planning on that project tomorrow, in order to become more committed...)

I don't release anything until I'm perfectly sure it won't get spread to the far corners of the internet and have someone claim it as their own. furthermore, I've only got 2 models finished, and 1 model UVmapped.
This:
http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...s_bothrend.png
And a gun made for the now defunct "Duke Through The Planets" mod:
http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...istol-rend.png
And the M20-Crow, which isn't available for use except to the "gibart" mod team.
http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...M20-rend-1.png

The robots I've done are fairly... interesting.

personally my best, though no UVmap or rig to it as of yet.
