ROTT Port for the Nintendo DS?
Recently, I noticed that ROTT has been ported to the PSP; this drove me to wonder if it'll be ported to the Nintendo DS, since Doom has been ported to it. It would really be great if ROTT was ported as well, especially since it is much funner and more stylish than Doom and one would be able to play such a great and fun classic anywhere (given that he/she doesn't have a PSP). Does anyone know of any news concerning an NDS port of ROTT?

Re: ROTT Port for the Nintendo DS?
Doubtful, the PSP version was done because it has far superior customability than the DS.
Once they get Linux completely ported, Mmm..

Re: ROTT Port for the Nintendo DS?
The kernel of DSLinux uses up most of the memory of the console in the current state of things and you can't expect anything complex to run on it (hell even lynx segfaults starving for memory). Something basic and portable like the icculus port should run on the console without having to work too much to port it, though.
On the other hand, I doubt ROTT is popular enough/I don't think the DS homebrew scene is big enough to make such a port happen.

Re: ROTT Port for the Nintendo DS?
By default, Rise of the Triad ought to be able to run on a Nintendo DS, since there is not too great a difference between its specifications and those of Doom; if Doom can run on it, then ROTT should be capable of doing so as well (in a video, a Quake port that is currently being developed has been shown to be capable of running).
There most likely is at least someone who might be considering porting ROTT; one cannot outright assume that nobody is considering the option, especially since Doom had been succesfully ported and ROTT has similar specifications and is noted for originating from the same era as Doom. |

Re: ROTT Port for the Nintendo DS?
Does anybody give it a try to make a nds port? any success? nothing?
I successfully compiled Birgers WinRott (old 2.24 version) on my PC. Maybe this is a god base source for a NDS port, cause WinRott supports SDL lib and NDS does it too. |
