Apogee remakes
Quote:
Fitznik started out as a remake of the old Apogee game Paganitzu. They were tossing around the idea of remaking a whole bunch of old Apogee titles. In the end they decided it was a better idea to focus on the likes of Max Payne (a pretty good plan as it turns out).

Re: Apogee remakes
Well I downloaded it to give it try. Passed all 10 levels. (boring) (windows crap) Interesting but not my kind of game play. Fancy graphics, Elevator music all around, I'd still rather play Paganitzu anyday over this.

Level 4 looks a lot like a Paganitzu 1 level.

Room 3 of Paganitzu 1. Is that the one your were thinking? That's what it reminded me of when I played it. Interesting too that the snakes face where you move and the spiders explode except not into diamonds though.

No secret walls from what I could find. The one thing I did like as far a improvement went was the Boulders. Put them in the water and you can still see them and walk on them too!

Fitznik started out as 'Paganitzu Revisited'. Apogee didn't want to run with it but Scott said what I had written looked good enough that I could probably do ok if I changed the name and graphics.

I actually changed quite a lot more than that in the long run. Removing action elements, requiring levels to be solveable in you mind by looking at them (ie no unpredictable changes) and making the game so that you could play levels in any order. It ended up taking on a flavour of its own.

Fitznik took me a long time to write. I had the principle game idea very early on. The old Apogee game Pananitzu had many levels with different styles. I only really liked one of those styles. I decided to make a game with all levels of that one style.
