Can't launch Prey
Hi,

I have just installed Prey on my new PC and it doesnt start. It goes fullscreen, the screen goes black for a millisec, and then back to desktop. I don't know what's the problem, but it may be my graphics card. Doom3 runs well. Here are my specs:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+
nVidia 8800GTS 320mb

Can anyone help? I searched Google, but apparently everyone having a 8800 dont have Prey.
Thanx,
Sebas

May be a dumb question, but are you using Dirext X 9? If you have a new system with Vista, you will have DX 10.

You can try updating to Prey version 1.3 if you haven't. Also, check your command line and try to simplify any extra options you have - I assume that its just Prey.exe. If it is, then you might want to try to set a resolution from your short cut, or set some simple things like +set r_fullscreen 1 (I think that's the appropriate command.) It's hard for me to suggest solutions tho, because I've never had this problem with any of my games before.

Add "+set developer 1 +set logfile 2" to the shortcut (w/o quotes). that should make a .log file in the prey folder. Please post that up.

Re: Can't launch Prey
It's me again

got some news but not solved

after reading some forum about games using D3 engine I figure out that
plenty of people had this problem.
Certain resolved it as stated below:

http://www.q4hq.com/forum.php?msg=519&forum=2&page=3

It's probably an OpenAL problem.

I installed this patch but my problem wasn't resolved completely

Now the game begins but blocks at an Image.
When oppening the desktop manager the game doesnt respond

Any ideas?

got finaly my problem solved =)

after installing the openAL form CreativeLabs
downloading the last drivers to date 158.22
and using driver cleaner pro (freeware)
use this tool to completely desinstall the nvidia drivers,
then restart your pc and install the latest one.

Hope this will help you too & see U soon in Multiprey
