Decolayers
man, i just went through 6 tutorial and none of them was accurate enough to explain the how`s and why`s

now i can paint a deco layer with some grass, but the texture layer also gets drawn ( wich it shouldnt ) so now my beautifull mountains are all white and stuff

if i dont create a texture layer but select the Decolayer thing from the decolayer tab the paint tool does not work right and just F-s up my terrain.

here is what i`ve done

first, open terain editing tool
then open the decorations tab and clicked "New"
Then opened my Static mesh Browser and selected an Grass Mesh
In the Terrain tool i right clicked the new decolayer and selected "Use static mesh from curent"
Then i went to the layers tab, created a new layer with the name "Decolayer1" with the alpha set to standard
then in the myLevel package i selected this image and went back to the terrain editor, there in the Decolayer tab i right clicked the Decolayer and selected "Set Density Texture From Curent"

then i edited my Terrain actor and set the decolayer property like max and min radius, align to terain etc

any tips or good tutorials on the subject?

i tried the UnrealWIKI one, Rachel one, and some other aswel UDN i believe )
and they all use different techniques none of wich helped me so far or are clear enough to follow

You found these tutorials didn't help?
I also suggest, if you haven't done this already, to sign up for a 3D Buzz Membership as they have lots of tutorials on many subjects and on multiple media.

Good luck with your mapping endeavors.

Never got those deco layers work either, I do exatcly like it says but there is never any meshes showing up. I have also looked at other maps and it's setup without figuring out what I do wrong.

Re: Decolayers
i do get the meshes showing up ( Start with a rather large radius! ) but it also paints the alpha layer see pic

its the white stuff. meaning the layer is not invisible

also, there are meshes apearing outside of the parts i painted, but that seems to go away once i reload my map.
