Ted "Wish you were done" - A parodic DNF song.
Hi everyone, I was a little bored tonight and couldn't be bothered studying, so having said David Gilmour has released his first album in 22 years or so and we havea few fans here AND we're still waiting for DNF....well there's no prizes for guessing what I have in store for you

Here we go:

"Wish you were done"

So, so you think you frag
Artificial to human intelligence,
Or kickin' arse in single player.
Can you tell a rail gun
From a cold desert eagle?
A stripper from a pigcop?
Do you think you can tell?

Did they get you to download from steam?
Or purchase the good ol' fashion way?
Right off the shelves?
Strippers naked boobs or PG-13 sexual references?
Can you handle the change?
And did you kick arse
Along those rooftops of Manhattan
Or rock it out in Vegas?

How I wish, how I wish you were done.
We're just two lost players
Looking at old screenshots,
Year after year,
Lookin' at the same old graphics.
What have we found?
The same old answer: WID.
Wish you were done.

I can't find any rhymes, so it's really hard for me...

Pink Floyds "Wish you were here from here" from same named album. Hard to keep rythm to those complex words. But then the more fun, Billy.

This is rubbish. It has no melodic insterest. its just a few random sentences spaced out vertically to make it look like a song layout. Try harder.

Whether the parody is good or not, the original Pink Floyd song didn't exactly rhyme, either. Not until the end part, which is where Joel's starts to rhyme as well.

Edit: Now that I think about it, the original did rhyme quite a bit:

tell/hell
rail/veil
trees/breeze
change/exchange

now that i read the original lyrics i see where is the analogy, but still i wouldnt call it a song... i dont think that i can be sang well. The original seems much more fluent, poetic and singable

and yes, original does rhyme much better

Quote:
So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell,
Blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

Did they get you to trade
Your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange
A walk on part in a war,
For a lead role in a cage?

How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl,
Year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found?
The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

Okay, what the heck. I'll give it a try. "Duke Nukem Forever," to the tune of Queensryche's "Jet City Woman."

Duke Nukem Forever

Every time I ask
Joe says, "When it's done"
And it's never done
Every time I close my eyes at night
I dream Duke's release date's in sight
I look at screenshots from '99
And video from 2001
Dreaming of Duke, I feel the heat
Of an RPG
Splattering an Octobrain
What it does to me!

Waited so long I can't wait another year without Duke

Duke Nukem Forever
It's a long way until it's gold
Duke Nukem Forever
I see Duke's face everywhere,
Can't get him out of my mind

Whenever I'm at home I'm hoping
There's a new post from George online
Telling us that Duke is on his way
Finally after all this time
Watching the time tick, tick away
The wait grows longer every day
Fortunes are lost on the upgrades I'll need
But without Duke
I can't breathe
He's the air to me

Waited so long, I'm all alone thinking about Duke

Duke Nukem Forever
Got to find its way home to me
Duke Nukem Forever
I see Duke's face everywhere I look
Duke Nukem Forever
Just a hundred milestones and it'll be here
Duke Nukem Forever
When it finally goes gold
Time for some Dukematch

Waited so long now the game's delayed again
Reminds me of all our days without Duke
Hold on, just a little longer

Duke Nukem Forever
Wonder where I'd be, Duke's the air to me
Duke Nukem Forever
Screenshots from '99, video from '01
Duke Nukem Forever
No more nights alone he's almost home now
Duke Nukem Forever
Close my eyes and I'm there with my
Duke Nukem
Duke Nukem!

Here's another one, to the tune of Pink Floyd's "Run Like Hell."

Disclaimer: I'm one of the most patient Duke fans, so this is only a gag. I don't really mean any of it, but I'm sure you--the 3DR guys--sometimes get the feeling that some of us do feel this way.

Code Like Hell

Code, code, code, code
Code, code, code, code
Code, code, code, code, code, code, code

You better stay at work until at least 3am
Don't go out for lunch, have your food brought in
Only take one break, better make it short
Keep the NoDoz handy if you need a jolt
If the building is on fire, just stay at your compiler
Wear a mask to keep out the smoke
You better code!

Code, code, code, code
Code, code, code, code
Code, code, code, code, code, code, code

You better code all day and code all night
Keep your personal life off to one side
And if your girlfriend asks you to take her out tonight
You'd better not let the webcam catch the sight
'Cause if we find you've been away from your coding job
You're going to have to deal with the vB mob
You better code!

Okay, because I'm feeling idiotic I decided to do something to a song that hopefully everybody knows, mary had a little lamb. It's all in fun, and we all know the team gets treated very well there. Kinda stupid, but made me laugh in a couple places...
====================
GB had a coding team
coding team
coding team

GB had a coding team, that coded night and day

And everywhere that GB went
GB went
GB went

and everywhere that GB went, the team was sure to stay

They followed him outside one day
outside one day
outside one day

They followed him outside one day, ignorant to their plight

It made the team laugh and play
laugh and play
laugh and play

It made the team laugh and play to see natural light

And so GB sent them in
sent them in
sent them in

And so GB sent them in, no more playing, never

And so the team resumed to work
resumed to work
resumed to work

The team did resume to work on Duke Nukem Forever

One day their coding was done
coding was done
coding was done

One day their coding was done, they celebrated with their friends

GB called them in once more
in once more
what the hell for?

GB called them in once more cause they're changing techs again...

Re: "Wish you were done" - A parodic DNF song.
well, first post here, thogh i been lurking for a long time.

let's have a go at this.

Wish you were done - for george
So, so you hope it'll sell,
after ten years in hell?
changing engines again?
Can you work through the hate
think it's still worth our wait?
our fears, will it quell?
Do you think it'll sell?

how did they get you to trade
and make your old data toast
quake 3 for unreal?
did they sweeten the deal?
how much had to change?
And did you exchange
A walk on part at E3,
For a sidebar on a page?

How I wish, how I wish it was done.
We're just trapped with our prayers
falling into thin air
it ain't no fun,
Reading over the same old posts.
What do we get?
"When It's Done."
Wish it was done...

note: i do have faith, but i wanted to keep the pathos of the original song.

That's - that's amazing man. Not only is it an accurate representation of what my innermost feelings might sound like while visiting this forum, but the combination of your silky voice with the unnervingly rhythmic guitar backdrop brings the otherwise bland and uninspired lyrics into a layer of philosophical depth.

It's so clear to see what this is... "A fanbase respecting a company, and having fun with it"
If they were desperate, then about what..? About the release of DNF..? Noone here implies that they want DNF, badly, and if the song has a lyric saying this, it doesn't mean that they're trying to rush the game anyway... I mean, how in the world would that help anyways..?!

Reading in my post above, there is also nothhing offending mentioned by protecting this thread, just facts, that makes one reconcider whatever whom said, ain't right...
