Pointless? message in Monster Bash E1, L4

It's in the level where you start off having to crawl past the sleeping dragon. If you stand behind the dragon and like half an inch (real life measurement) behind his eye and jump, the message "You may not pass this point until all the pets are freed." appears. What? When I free the pets and go back, the dragon is still there and he still kills me! What is that supposed to be, some cheap trick to con you out of a life?

Try jumping into its horn, I think half an inch is too far away for it to work.
