yeah, that game was the best thing out there in its time... if they had just released the game in 2001, they were bigger than mario now...

That doesn't make any sense, Mario's first game is a lot older than Duke Nukem 3D.

He attempting to say that if Duke Forever would have been released circa 2001 than the Duke Nukem franchise could be as big or bigger than the Mario franchise now.

Yeah, that still doesn't make sense. Why would it be?

Actually, it does. SpinX is saying that if DNF had come out in 2001, this would have happened:

Of course I know that's what he meant, I mean "it makes no sense" as in "why would DNF become more popular than Mario" not as in "I don't get what he's saying"?

- A game is hyped beyond belief
- It is released when its engine is still state-of-the-art
- It blows the competition away with insane graphics and insane amounts of interactivity
- PROFIT!!!

Well that didn't work for Duke Nukem 3D so why would it work for DNF?

So there weren't any high-profile releases that could've interfered with Duke's success huh?

... Well yeah, but fanboys would rather go into real 3D gaming and this and that while Duke Nukem 3D still used pixels.... I don't mind, it's miles better than both mentioned games and I'd have loved a Duke3D sequel in the Build engine anyway...
But.. heck, like AR said, state-of-the-art graphics is 'necessary' for it to be taken seriously. i'd love the actual build of the game to be completed anyway... no matter how 'old' it is now... Duke 3D graphics weren't the best at its time either...
