Just for the records, I AM modelling stuff for my maps, I don't use only models from other sources, I also use a lot of stuff of my own, this one in the picture being an example.

The pictures I've shown of my latest map are WIP, of course they won't be too detailed as i need to make the base first, and then add details when i have all the coding done and know where i want certain sequences to happen, otherwise i'd have to redo most of the stuff.

Especially in EDuke32, you can make a lot of your maps using MD3's. Want a castle in your map? You can make an MD3 for it.

You should be able to use them for major structural details as long as you use blocking sprites to limit player movement to within the walls.

Those cars will be models and there is no limit (apart from polycount) on what else you can put in.

Have you actually tried this? It's not as simple as it sounds. Try getting the clipping right on a model that is shaped like a pyramid, for example. Also, there are fundamental differences between the way the game engine treats walls and how it treats sprites which can have a number of unwanted effects (and some really cool effects, too, like being able to destroy "walls").

I didn't say it would be easy - I just said it should be possible. I've seen maps with entire staircases and floors made of blocking sprites. It should be possible to match that up with a 3D model to create some cool effects. Matching it up would be a major pain in the ass though, and yes, you would have some strange effects here and there unless you chose your models and maps very carefully.

But it is possible!!

I've seen a mod that used invisible wall alligned sprites to avoid clipping on models, and guess what? I'm using it too .

Anyway...One of the NPC that will be roaming the city:

I don't care who made that or where it come from but that's actually a pretty decent NPC skin. Ankles looks a bit too thin however (might be the screenshot perspective)

Polycount? Wireframe shot?

I see what's going on here...And it's my fault for not saying "IT'S NOT MY MODEL, I DIDN'T MAKE IT!!" but hey...it is kinda obvious, thanks for beating me to it anyway.

Polycount is around 3000, a LOT, but still renders without frame rate dropping here (and I placed a lot of them in the map to check). But then again I have a lot of ram, and a fast video card, so I dunno...hopefully when this comes out people have better PCs.

His head looks big and obnoxious, so I will shoot him immediately, preferably with an RPG in order to reduce the load on my video card.
