willing to pay?
This is just an idea..
why not collect some money -Internationally- how much needed I have no idea- to buy the total rights for DNF and give the rights to 3drealms so we can get DNF finished and play some serious game here..
In other words give the people that are now taking 3dr to court a kick in their asses.. back under the rock they came from...
"nobody should steal our game, let's nuke them.."

That's what we all want isn't it?
We have waited for DNF for so long and we all have dreamed of the big day it was released.
To my opinion worth to pay for !!
Who should collect the money so it will not end in wrong pockets I have also no idea, but maybe 3dr could do that?

well just thoughts and ideas, from a disappointed and a little pissed Duke Nukem gamer.
you know what? I play Duke Nuken Atomic often after all these years, and so do my kids, yearh.. my kids age 11 and 15 simply LOVE that game also, and have played that game all their life..
A life without worlds best game? and the thought DNF will never come?.. come on.. be serious will 'ya..??

Great idea! Let's crunch the numbers...

Let's say that 3DR would need $20,000,000 to buy the rights.

And let's say that there are 100,000 people willing to help them.

That's $200 per person.

Ok, now they have the rights. But they have ZERO funds to actually make the game.

Let's be generous and say they only need $10,000,000 to finish the game.

Another $100 per person.

So, to carry out your plan, you need to find 100,000 people willing to pay $300.

Good Luck.

excellent theory, but collecting a meaningful amount of money is much more complex than you think. there are lots of fans until it comes down to putting out cash, then everyone disappears. for money they will need a product to sell. more likely they need an investor, and money is hard to find in todays times.

I find it hard to believe that there are people who still have an ounce of faith in 3D Realms - they had ONE game they were working on, they had 12 years to produce said game, and they STILL failed to release it - if that isn't incompetence, I don't know what is - giving more money to George Broussard at this point would be like throwing it on a bonfire - unless you're keen on funding his WoW, junkfood and satellite television addictions. I guess the reason I bother to post on these boards is it's kind of sad to see people wasting their time pining over a FPS that in all reality probably isn't going to be released, claiming loyalty to a company that at this point deserves none, when there are plenty of quality PC and console games out there/coming out soon.

How many confused people are around here at the moment? Either that, or just plain stupid!

The only rights that 3DR does not own in regards to DNF is the publishing rights for a boxed copy of the game! They own the IP rights for the Duke franchise, the digital publishing rights, and everything else except the ******* right to publish the game on a disk!

So yeah, gettig through life without the ability to reason and understand like a normal human being...

You made one point which is true, but then again make another that is also true.

Fans of 3DRealms do NOT revolve their life around them. I don't know why you and people like you keep believing in this as I have seldom come here. Sure I have come here every now and then, but not every day hoping for some DNF goodness.

We fans do not do that and we do play other games. Like I am waiting for Ghostbusters, Prototype, Bioshock 2, and other great games coming out.

DNF is on my list of wants, but it is not my life.

Second point, if you are such a hater like this to keep saying how much you hate 3DR, how much they failed, and how much you want people to stop wasting your life at these forums....then what are you still doing here?

Not saying you can't be here and voice an opinion, but you are being a hypocrite if you sit here saying how you don't want to waste your life with 3DR or DNF and yet you still are here on these forums about the very thing you complain about.

I don't get it.....are you that just plain stupid to not think about that? If you hate 3DR so much, then why do you come to a 3DR web forum?

I really would like an answer and it better be a good answer other than "Oh, I can do whatever I want" because that answer has no logic to it and t just makes one a troll.

So tell me, why are you still here if you do not believe in 3DR or Duke Nukem Forever anymore? If you are here to just spam the forum then you have no other life anyway other than to spam forums which means this life people speak of outside of 3DR doesn't exist.

Say any one of you.....ShXIII why are you still here? To be a type of Crusader? Pitiful really if you think that on a video game forum.

Although there are stipulations.. for example, a company can refuse to accept your donations...

Read the facts and become enlightened:
http://ecfr.gpoaccess.gov/cgi/t/text....11.30&idno=45

Personally, I believe if 3D Realms decides they want to go the donation route, they'll put up a page asking for them.
But the whole "it's illegal" thing was started by someone who sounded like they knew what they were talking about and has been passed on from one person to another as gospel when the fact of the matter, as stated by federal law, is quite the opposite.

Your idea is no doubt great
but it is practically impossible to collect that huge amount from the contribution of every fan...
but still its a good idea..
