The future
I was talking, briefly, with a friend of mine on facebook about 3D Realms, and at this time it appears 3D Realms is predominantly focusing on it's past. Which does make sense to a certain degree. Bringing it all back and trying to spark and revitalize the name. That's totally cool, and the 3DR Anthology is a nice valentine to another era.

What will the future hold for 3D Realms though? I'd love to see the shareware model brought back, maybe a few smaller scale games that could support it? I'd love to see new IP developed (Bombshell notwithstanding) and see some of the other classics of the Apogee line up redeveloped for the modern age. I really want to see Alien Carnage and Bio Menace get reimaginings. I've always thought those two characters would make a great transition into a third person shooter genre for example.

Re: The future.
The first natural step for us, was to acknowledge our past in a new way.
It's important that newcomers know what 3D Realms stands for, and who we are.

The future was what inspired us to make this move.
We have several high-profile projects underway, a new exciting game development incubator program in development, and several third party titles in development as well.

The shareware model is something we're very interested in, and see value in, in todays marketplace. We have a lot of new IP on it's way as well, besides possible re-boots.

We're very excited about the future of 3D Realms.
