Maxed2 Problem.
Hey,
A friend at Levels4you.com have a problem with maxed.
It looks like this http://cs4119.vkontakte.ru/u9362905/...x_4598b1bb.jpg
http://media.moddb.com/cache/images/...20x2000/-1.jpg

He says that even when he starts a map from scratch they look like this.

Anyone know of the problem or how to solve it?
He tried reinstalling the MaxFX pack.

Thanks in advance,
Andersen.

Something to do with rendering settings. Forgot how to fix it.

Those are basically jitters from the rendering. They need to be sampled to make the result smoother. Either he changed some rendering settings the way he shouldn't, or it's some graphic card problem.

tell him to read the lighting tutorial

i think it might be corrected by increasing the viewport size, can't remember.

I didn`t change settings. Also does video card really affect lighting calculation?
Because my VCard work fine in new games etc, it`s GeForce 8600 Gt and i don`t have any problem here.
Also i had ok maps some time ago, on same PC and windows, so it`s not my fault in settings i`m sure.

Well thats part of the problem you need to change some rendering settings, what you see happens often if you set the lightmap size too large compared to the viewport size. Also the videocard is only used for doing the volume lighting calculations which is done after the lightmaps are rendered using volcalc and that only affects the lighting on dynamic objects and character models ingame, it should work fine on any modern graphics card. You should increase the viewport size to something like 256 or 512, it will slow down the rendering slightly but shouldn't really be a problem.

Yes, now I remember. It's the lightmap res only. Decrease it. The more you decrease that, the pixels will be blurred out making it look comfortable. But don't go too low or else you'll lose detail. Try striking a balance between both or something. That's all I remember. Sorry if this is not the case.
