BTW I hope you guys have read this statement at the bottom of this page which effectively allows 3D Realms to actually use your idea to name the Prey sequel and pay you a total amount of zero dollars.

I can't comment on the linked post since I don't have an account there, but I would like to say, it's not the just the name, but all about marketing.

Here are some very generic names - something you would probably see in a movie touting fictional products:

Energizer
Duracell
Microsoft

Sure they are big name brands. But really - sound them out - and also try to pretend you just came from another dimension or alternate world where these brand names never existed. Think about it - "dura cell" - a combination of "duration" and "cell".

A brand like "Electrolast" may sound like a generic brand at best, but if marketed and advertized on every type of media that exists, it may not seem generic at all.

One thing I also noticed is not just the marketing hype, but the font, colors, and even logo helps facilitate the allure of the branding. If your color coordination looks cheezy, or use a cheezy or generic font, and your logo isn't simple or memorable, you loose.

Snakes on a Plane is the best title, IMO.
