Re: Still working on it...
Here is the instrumental version of Max Payne Done and Finished.

If I have time tomorrow, then I will convert it into straight Piano music. My next challenge is the Late Goodbye piece by Poets of the Fall. That one should be easier.

If anyone actually has Sibelius 3, then I can e-mail them the original (Instrumental) music as it should be written.

Meaning there will be notes and etc so I can play it on the keyboard?

Well, at long last, here it is. I hope everyone can play it. It is hard, but not too hard, but it's the best that I can make it sound like the real thing. Hope everyone likes it.

Please tell me what u think of it... Either here on the forums or by e-mail. Thank you.

I didn't have the opportunity to test it yet, but I must say that the notes look very promising, the sheets look like real and professional.

Just one note... Why is there a Copyright 3D Realms on the bottom of the page?

Ahhhh SHIT... Remedy was the makers of Max Payne and they probably wrote the piece instead of 3DRealms...... Oops

It is their music after all, I put that their incase they get pissy thinking I'm trying to rip off their song as my own...

Well, unfortunately, I guess it is Take-2 now...

THE MUSIC TOO! *fist*

Anyway, I finally played it. EXCELLENT WORK, Piano Man!
I really enjoyed it and now I'm actually beginning to learn it. It sounds like the original, except that the b-chord (after c) sounds a bit weird to me, somehow.

Re: Still working on it...
I know it sounds weird, but that's definately supposed to happen. If you listen to the original MP3 of Max Payne you can just hear the suspension as the B leads to the C (then the Eb F G C' yada yada yada)

Glad you like it Joonas.

Hope everyone else who downloaded it enjoys it just the same.

Re: Still working on it...
Another thing I didn't get was what was assigned to left hand to play in the B-part. (Not the f chord, but the completely different.) I don't remember hearing that in the theme... or was that there just to replace drums and stuff?

Re: Still working on it...
It was to replace the strings, if you listen to the MP3, you can hear in the background the strings playing something. Thats the bit where you play (Ab G C D Eb (rest) Ab G C D Eb) in the left hand isn't it? Listen to the MP3 and you should hear it in the background.

Play more.

One thing you could "substitute", Piano Man, is the heart beat sound... an added push of the left hand's chord at the right moment...

Re: Still working on it...
It's just hard to make the sound of the heart beat as it is supposed to be an un-pitched sound, plus it's hard for all those people who might not be as good at Piano as the others.

Unfortunately, I'm not going to make a v1.1. I go back to uni in a couple of days and unfortunately don't have time.

Can't believe my holidays are over already.

Time to make the new notes now?

Found a couple of flaws too when compared to the sound track...

AND I CAN PLAY THE THEME WITH MY EYES CLOSED!

Get a microphone and record how you play! I know you have a microphone.

Re: Still working on it...
Find a way to get the piano through a staircase that is too narrow or through a balcony door that is also too narrow.

... or get me a 40m microphone cable extension that is completely error free.

Re: Still working on it...
Put some sort of amplication[sp?] on your piano so the sound is hella big and tell everyone to not breath and press record.

I am not sure if there is a piano amplification, tho.

BTW if anybody bothers about the chord progressions of the original MP theme, it is:-

Cm/ - / - / -
Gm/ - /F/ - ... and it loops.

The second part :-

F/ - /Gm/ -
F/ - /Gm/ - .... back to Original part.

....:::: I'm not so sure. But its something similar ::::....

Add "no 3rd" to those chords and it's okay.

Re: Still working on it...
I hate to say this, but there are no flaws in the Piano Music, believe me. I played through this piece myself (the whole thing) and I listened to the Music. I have Perfect Pitch, I hate bragging, but I've never been wrong.

Sorry.

Re: Still working on it...
There was one rythmic error, I know. I can't explain it in english...

The "second" starting notes are sixthteenths in the sound track. You wrote eights.

MY GOD, YOUR ABSOLUTELY BLOODY RIGHT.

I am so sorry Joonas. I can't believe I missed that, when you said error I thought you meant a wrong note error, not rhythm. I apoligise.

The correct version is as follows. I double checked it 2 mins ago with the MP3, and this version is completely right. Rhythm and all.

Once again, I can't tell you how stupid I feel Joonas after my last message.

Re: Still working on it...
Well, it sounded a bit rude perhaps, but I was sure I was right, just like you.

Actually it was my piano teacher who noticed that. I played the theme for her, showed the notes and played the original... she loved it! Now I'm officially learning to play it!

EDIT: What is that 3DRealms still doing there?

EDIT2: I also (seemed to) found a copule of notations overlapping each other on the second page, where the both melodies play.

EDIT3: Why did the filesize drop that much?

Re: Still working on it...
Oooooops, OK. Here is the (hopefully final version)

1 - 3DRealms thing is changed to Remedy

2 - Use of the pedal, you play the Semibreves (whole notes) and hold them in the pedal

3 - The filesize only dropped 5k, it's not that much. God knows, why it is a different size.

Though, the overlapping notes are still there.

See the tenth bar from the end. Left hand playes the same C as does right.

Otherwise, LOVE IT!

Re: Still working on it...
Ooops, yeah, I didn't see that. I don't mind taking them out if you really want me to, I was just suggesting that you can play the notes with either hand, If you can't reach an octave in the Right, then you could play them with the Left.

Anyway's I'm really glad you like it. Just curious, I noticed that 7 people have downloaded it already (You being one of them). I'd just like to see what the other 6 people thought of it. I'd really like some feedback. Just for curiosity Sake.

Not bad for a 19 year old with too much time on his hands.

Re: Still working on it...
Just saying you that placing the same note for both hands is... annoying.

Heh, game my piano teacher a copy. And on Moday I play the theme at some art exhibition of our school

Piano man, frankly speaking I can't read notations in the way u gave. We in our country dont learn music in that western pattern. Secondly I learnt what I learnt(bass) myself. So it could have been better if anybody here could have made a midi with ur notations.

Sounds fine to me with Creatives virtual piano or then my piano playing skills are in rust, haven't played real piano since 1991.

Funny that the notation type has been a global standard since the 14th century.
