Vertexguy definitely has to join here if you need tallented music artists...
He also promised a cleaner version of his track, we still never got that, perhaps he'll make it this time... Assuming he has time for it...

Re: "Grabbag" fan remix contest
Well, in order to not bore the different musicians to be part of the contest, I wrote generally them "old or recent" concerning their remix.

I discussed a bit through e-mails with Carbohydrom that explained me that 3 month is enough for a contest as basically "DoD" is one month.

Also note that DoD didn't offer prizes

He wrote on his site that he change of job in November so he certainly has a few things to do...
I sent him the title picture and the "spaceballs" picture, let's wait and see...

I also think that with some notes to "MusicallyInspired" I could hope make him part of the contest, during the weekend I'll also try to connect VGMIX artists.

Concerning previous idea for press information, I've contacts there but seeing the low effect on this community, I wouldn't have to take their time for a global information.
So I'll proceed artist by artist... trying to find their e-mail one by one... to try to make them join the contest.

Miki, I haven't forgotten. :P So much has gone on in my life in the past year its kept me insanely busy. I just recently moved to a different state and started a new job in a lead role. I'm still insanely busy, but I may have a paying client that will help me get my drum setup finished. Once that's done, I'll be able to take another swing at the Duke Nukem Jam.

but yeah, if i was going to do another duke cover, ide redo all my drums, add in a jp-8000 for backing chords (kinda like you would hear in the midi). although, i could just enter my take that was on the duke fan art dvd. (although i dont really like that one much anymore)

Well as wrote up it's a community fan contest, honestly I don't think have mass suscribers, but if they all are passionated that'd be fine, wouldn't it ?

As noted up, find following actual "Vertexguy" tribute to the Duke (till it is re-done ).

Let's rate !

Re: "Grabbag" fan remix contest
In my opinion, try to link the guitar with a direct microphone and make some tests of volume settings to have the less parasite or overload sound.
Otherwise, simply use your computer as a recorder and convert it in MP3...

(I'm not in fact with such audio matters, so I hope that maybe some artist may give you the best advices).

You can judge that Vertexguy's creation as some low frequency quality, but it rocks... So don't panic about your creation and post it here once you estimate it is enough pleasant.

Do you have a video camera or a photo camera ?
Normally there's a microphone in.
Well, the sound would not be perfect but maybe this could work...

Once recorded, pick up the sound to make a MP3, or if you've no tools, put the video on Youtube.

Great, so means we've now around 5 contestors... (^_^)

Just remember that is just for fun with some prizes, anyone welcome, deadline 1st april.
If you've friends interested about, they could join too.

I also received a note from "tGz" from VGMIX, he's ok to be part of the contest with his NES remix.

Here's the link on VGMIX
http://www.vgmix.com/download.php?mo...21&song_id=312

Here are his song details :
"What would the Duke Nukem theme have sounded like if it were on a NES? Well, probably something like this. FYI, this is specifically the "grab bag" theme track from the plutonium pak.

This is tracker music, but I did my best to follow the rules of the NES. The samplepack is created from FX2. There are no additional channels, bass volume does not vary (on/off only), squares don't drop below a certain pitch, etc.

This tune is about a year old, actually, but I figure someone will probably enjoy it."

So it's not really a guitar one but funny chiptune style one.
Could be Duke1 theme if DukeNukem3d falled in a time warp...

Tell me if 3drealms forum community consider it as valid to join the contest, that'll make 6 contestors.

In my opinion you may reach a minute by using some loops.

I listened a bit your "Stalker" theme remix, and in my opinion you may easily succeed to create a nice piece (of cake ) for the contest.
Why not use your "Duke Nukem 3D Themesong" that already exists ? Or maybe you prefer make a less complaining guitar one ?...

Also reallyyyyy appreciated your "E1M1" theme... (is it the one from Doom Classic remix ??????).
I think so

Well well well buddies, seems that this contest planned in my tortuous mad scientist mind starts to look decent.
I'll try to more hit my head on toilets, that may give other good ideas

I had an idea of artwork during my office day while typing a boring table report on Excel... would be on "the 5th element" based

So post your creation and once I'll be back, I'll summarize the different contesters.

A pity for "tGz" creation, VGMIX seems down (again) since a week, hope that'd be solved during this period.

Current contesters (alphabetical order) :
- Bobthefish
- Carbohydrom
- Nukkus
- tGz
- Vertexguy

Don't hesitate to join, that's just for fun and prizes are so insane that they are a must have (^_^)

Also all your purposal to establish a voting method are welcome...

ok guys, my cover is DONE!
i just have to record the guitar now!
ive made the drums really over the top. there isnt 2 set patterns like my first cover. this time, i did it all in one take, and the drums follow along to the melody's rythim amazingly well. also, i added a 2 bar drum solo just for kicks.

EDIT: the two DAWs i use are refusing to accept audio data. i cannot record now. this is going to take some time to fix. im not sure if i will be able to add live guitar.

ok, since im having recording trouble, i replaced it with a synth and ran it through guitar rig. i WILL work out this recording problem, but at least for now, you get to know what the finnished product is like.
please examine this link: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page...songID=6332454

EDIT: if it turns out that i cant actually record the guitar by the final date of this competition, this can be considered final.
all of it was done in FL-Studio 8 beta XXL edition.
i used sytrus, and the 103 mb version of Realfont 2.1
