Technically very impressive. Liked the music, the sets, and the story was alright.

Only the guy doing Brown's voice has any voice acting skills though. Everyone else sounded like teenagers. And it took me out of the movie when that one guy ragdolled in such a way that his arm disappeared into his body.

Bottom line- This was pretty damn cool, I just wish there was better voice acting for the rest of the cast.

Haven't watched yet, but... shouldn't it say Max-FX (MaxFX, MAX-FX, ...) as the engine, not Max Payne 2?

Repost from Max Payne Dev:

Wow, this was amazing.

Finally true Machinima on the MP Engine!

I agree that the Shooting sounds need to be more heavier and that ragdoll arm problem needed to be fixed up.

Other then that this was better then I expected. If you can fix the above for the next part then it'd be perfect.

I actually liked the voice acting and was some of the best that I've seen in a mod (or in this case machinima).

I'll be sure to get it hosted up on MPDev (Gamer's Hell) for you.

Also yes if this was submitted in the Max Payne modding contest then you would have definitely won.

Absolutely marvellous!! This is downright amazing!

This is by far the best fan made machinima I've seen

I loved the voiceacting.. I *particularly* liked the voice acting!! The only thing I could put my finger on was the bullets that went trough the characters sometimes - as well as the "arm goes trough body" ragdoll of the suit-guy - the music fitted the movie PERFECTLY, and I was extremely impressed with the reflective floor hehe lgave a nice effect to the movie - do make a mod of this sometime - I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd love to try out the map!

Thanks guys! I hope you enjoyed it.

I've fixed that ragdoll issue and will upload a new version (if you're bothered to d/l it again), but my site seems to have reached its bandwith limit...

Oh and Ruger, you're right. There's a few decades of age/experience difference between Brown and the other 2. I thought all 3 did a fantastic job, though.

BTW, when I posted the picture of a crazy dog, I meant to say, either "Great googily-moogily!" "AWESOME" "Wow, that was unbelievably good" "GREAT VOICE-OVERS FOR THE FIRST TIME IN RECENT MP HISTORY!!!!" "Can't wait for the second!!!!!!!!!1!1!!!1!1one!!!!!111exclamation!1!1 !!11!!1"

You name it, I would've said it, but I was too awe-inspired to speak.

So,

..is all that came out , lol.

In all seriousness, great job! The voice-overs were outstanding. The camera work was very cinematic. The suspense you managed to build in such a short time was insanely cool! Up until this video, I could always tell when someone used the second part of camera mode, (Resident Evil style) because you could tell they were guessing where the crosshair was. I also couldn't believe the effect Pixel shader/reflections have on the graphics. I don't get why MP2 is the most graphically demanding game I own. I have reflections and shader effects in Doom3 and Splinter Cell Pandora Tommorow on my NvIdia GeForce Ti 4200 card, but not in MP2, because it needs another card.. Weird

Wow, this machinima is pretty damn good. Great use of soundtrack, tension builds appropiately and smoothly, and better voice acting than Katana. (No offense strat ) Sure would've beat the machinima that won the MP2 mod contest.

One thing I don't quite get though... SPOILER ALERT - select the following text to read it: why was it so easy for him to kill all the bodyguard dudes, then suddenly so difficult to kill the target dude? Well, I guess I shouldn't get so philosophical about it.

Re: Riot Films Presents: \'Only The Strong Survive\'
Spoiler:

Brown and Andy were friends and partners for a long time. Andy at first didn't want to shoot Ryan until he got answers. He's just being a defiant kid here. Plus he had a gun pointed at him too. After Ryan puts his gun down and reveals what's going on, it's the shock of his friend betraying him that froze him up. Once Brown puts his gun down (from aiming at Andy), Andy regains composure but shoots Ryan a millisecond too late.

As for who knew who, Brown and Ryan knew each other. Andy did not know Ryan, but Ryan knew him. None of them knew the bodyguards, and none of the bodyguards knew them.

Andy's mission was to assassinate some guy. He wants to know why, who he is, etc. He thinks Brown knows more and is sick of being not told the details all the time. Brown's mission is to put Andy through the test. Ryan's mission is to pose as Andy's target. Mariamus pretty much got it, too. Andy's an assassin with heart, and compassion. If he had shot Ryan without hesitation, there would be that guilt of not knowing the why, built up on all of the other targets he killed before without question. Which is what makes him different from all the other Organization members, and why Ryan grew to dislike him.

There's much more going on than this, like why the two sides were shooting each other when they were actually all from the Organization. But that's all I'll say for now in fear of spoiling the sequels. I think I said too much already, actually....

Bow to ye Crack 6K. You finally showed lotsa people whats the difference between all the quake clone game moddings and MP2 modding. It was well ......... PERFECTO.
How the hell did you guys managed to do it. I assume you guys had a massive pre-plan as without it the output shown isn't possible. Though the character animations while they were talking could have been animated more to make that cinematic feel. I mean suppose moving the shoulders a bit while talking which might have made the audience involvement better.
Anyway Best job I ever expected from a Machinima. We might show the Doom communtiy this little beast we got.

Your movie rules. I thought the music really helped to create the right mood. The voice acting was way above average. The only time it felt like it was just voice acting was Andy reacting when Brown died.

So his mission was actually to get killed for the test? It takes a lot to get yourself voluntarily killed. You have to be suicidal or a religious fanatic. Or did Ryan know that Andy wouldn't do it? If everybody in this Organisation has to go through this, then they'll never increase their number of members. Somehow I fail to see the logic behind such a test.

Ryan agreed to do this because he knew Andy couldn't do it. "I knew it, what did I tell you Brown?" The goal of the Organization is not to increase its members, but to remove the weak. "In the Organization, only the strong survive." None of the members involved in the test knew the outcome, who will live and who will die. Each one simply knew that to remain in the Organization, they needed to survive. Ryan's true goal with the test was to remove Andy, not voluntarily get killed. No one goes into the test thinking they will die, they all have their own selfish goals.

The whole deal with the Organization and the test is still unexplained, and is something that will be explained further in part 2. It'll make sense.

This is by far the most professional and cinematic machinima I've ever seen. My only advice would be to read some books about the mafia and the CIA so the story wont seem so cartoonish.
