My ideas for DNF
Ok, I have alot to say (brace yourself)

- Melee attack with any gun (although we do have the mighty boot)

- If DNF decides to have grenades, use a hot key for it, I hate it when fps games make you pull it out as if it's a weapon

- Vehicle Idea's
* Motorcycle w/ gun turret and motorcycle w/ rocket turret, should be in 1st person view and 1 person only
*Donkey (or was it a camel in the trailer?)- whichever it was, you should just use your guns and run over people if it was a donkey, that would be awsome to use rear feet to kick enemies from behind- I'd say 1st person view with up to 2 people if in multiplayer
* Tank- gun turrets with rockets , only if the game were to be co-op (which I heard it's not), or even in multiplayer, an ally can control the gun turret, while the other drives and uses main cannon, or maybe even support up to three people, one drives, 2 uses the turrets/cannons, but if one person is in tank, they should be able to drive and use cannaon (and turret in single player). Should definantly be 3rd person view.
*Maybe one of thse flying ship things as seen in duke nukem II, we gotta have alien vehicles here too folks , that or the patrol things the pig cops used to fly in duke 3d. Should support lazer turrets on each side, and at the bottom, it can drop bombs (but nothing too destructive). Should be no more than 1-2 people and maybe it should be in 3rd person since you get to fly, but it is hard to say.

That is all the vehicles I can think of right now

- Jetpack should be in 3rd person, that would be sweet

- let's say you take a heavy blow, and you die before you get the chance to use your medkit, well, if you have a medkit handy, and your life goes below 0, it should be used automatically (unless the damage was too great and your medkit didn't have enough life to replenish)

-holodukes were cool, yet I found them rather useless, still, they would add a nice touch, especially in multiplayer

-it should actually show duke putting on and taking off his night vision goggles

-when you use steriods, it should boost your attack and defense as well as giving you the extra speed

- armor and scuba gear seem fine, just as long as they are in DNF

-melee kicking, you don't do the same thing every time you kick, same goes for melee attacking with a weapon

- plenty of life like city levels with ability to go in just about any building

- plenty of interactive things (like maybe even a playable arcade game in an arcade somewhere, love it when games do that

-co-op, even though there won't be any (which I understand why, I just wish we could still have the ability to do so)

- multiplayer gametypes- dukematch, ctb (capture the babe ), team dukematch, tri dukematch and quad duke match (3 and 4 teams duking it out, tri is seperate gametype from quad), odd nuke (similiar to odd ball from halo but it is the atomic logo on a ball besides a skull), Hail to the King (king of the hill), no gametypes that restrict to using specific weapons, those usaully suck, unless it is snipers.

- duke should say things depending on what he did (ex. if he pipe bombed someone, he says- "rip em a new one", but maybe if he snipes someone, he could say "I screwed off your head, and now your dead" or something, this will be fun in multiplayer
Oh, and more one liners

- reactions- if duke or an enemy get's shot in a certain spot, they will show pain inflicted on that area (unless someone is shot in the head )

-AI, sometimes there should be parts when people help you in firefights, but should end up getting thier ass kicked at the end of the fights, duke is a one man army, but alittle AI with actual people here and there is nice.

-Weapons
*all of the weapons from duke 3d
*all of the weapons from duke nukem 64 (hooray for the dual weilded SMG's, grenade launcher, expander, and plasma cannon )
*a flamethrower
*throwing knives
*DOUBLE BARRELED SHOTGUN
*a sniper rifle (and I mean a GOOD one, something like the sniper from halo 1, halo 2's was akward and cheap)
*a nail gun.... MU HA!
*the alien lazer gun (should be dual weilded tee hee)
*an alien weapon that melts enemies into puddles of blood
* I'm not gonna go any further at this point

*outer space levels, but even better than what was in duke 3d

*strippers, clubs, bars, ooh, and the return of the karoeoke

*DUKE BOT'S, and lot's of em

I hope you like what I have so far, I did my best to not make this look like another halo. feel free to add any comments, suggestions, and idea's of your own

And 3DRealms, I hope you take a peek at this, even if you hate it, you guys are the BEST for making the BEST shooter ever, Duke Nukem 3D. I know DNF will come out someday, and I don't care how long, I just want it to ROCK. All Hail Duke!!

Those are all pretty good ideas, but I'm a bit sceptic about the med-kit thing.
Being killed by a big blast is pretty normal, so this "auto-heal" thing kinda ruins that.

ya I thought about that too, but come to think of it, I don't even think that will be an issue... Just looking for ways to improve on the game

I think I remember a quote stating that there won't be a co-op mode. Personally I always enjoyed being able to play the single player campaign with my buddies. Let's assume they decided to add the mode in, how hard would it be to add into the game?

He shouldn't have night vision goggles, he should have a night vision mode built in to his regular sunglasses. And an Xray mode, so you can see through women's clothes.

Somebody has just released a co-op mode mod for doom3 and although it has a few bugs here and there it's awesome to be able to play through the single player game with your buddies.
This is from somebody that got bored with the single player game's lack of varied artstyle and gameplay.
co-op mode just adds so much to the experience.

I know what you mean, but to be honest I always enjoyed duke 3d on single play, and I have done co-op over modem with dukester x, it is really cool and is a nice touch, but I can live without it, who knows, maybe someone will make a mod for it? Sometime when the game comes out that is...

it willll have pipebombs, and I'd like 2 different buttons: one to throw, one to detonate I found that seriously lacking in Duke3D.
as for other games not having a grenade button, a grenade button is cool but only if there's a way to regulate how far you throw it, and maybe seeing how much power you put on the grenade
so it's not like in area 51 or serious sam 2.

I hope there is no portable medkit in duke even.
I don't like items the player carries that he has to activate. I especially hate quad damage like in quake 2. but medkits even more because they make the game too easy. FEAR is too easy. Blood is too easy. Duke3D is too easy.

heh thx for bringing this back on topic cerberus

I don't know how you find this game easy, episode 1, sure, but 2 and 3 can get pretty tough.

Portable medkits are great IMO. It beats sneaking around being scared of the enemy because you are low on healt, that isn't dukes style so in this game I am all in favor of the protable medkit.

And it's not like Duke needs them. Plus, they only make you look strong, not be strong in RL anyway, so I am with Cerberus_e on this one. (just for a different reason. )

Then there would be to much to do ingame anyway for a Duke game (or any other FPS game), that is more fun for an RPG anyway.

co-op is fun, but not if it takes away from the level design. Which it usually does.
It's cool with SS2 though.

I have no problem with the other episodes aswell...
It's all about 'knowing' the levels, and getting the right 'feel' into the game...

ya I know ti is hard to explain, anyways, I thought it would be cool to have some 3rd person vehicles but if you guys all feel that it would take away originality, and want it 1st person that's cool too. An sry, I should have said pipe bombs (I forgot duke had those ). As for the medkit, I definantly want it in DNF, wether you say it is easy or not. Well how about you guys post ideas? This is a discussion board after all

Yeah, those where some cool levels. I actually finished them on Damn I am good (highest difficulty level iirc) (But that was when I played that game daily )

As for my ideas:
I just want DNF finished. I am pretty confident that they make a great game and I don't want any features in that have nothing to do with the game.

For example, if for some reason they have no use for vehicles, I don't want them in, if they do have use for them and have the time then I do want them in. Simple as that. I have faith they will do great.

Ofcoarse, I was assuming that Battlelord would be in the game. Also, I don't much care about the cycloid emperor, but I would like to see Overlord return as well, also the new bosses that 3DR has in stor for us...

About everything in your post seems pretty obvious and okay to me except for the auto-medkit:

The whole concept of a medkit is that you have to use it yourself and that a heavy blow will kill you anyway ... if a medkit as you decribe it would be implemented, it would be exactly the same as having 200% health and thus obsolete ...

My idea is: make a medkit like in Duke3D BUT make it so that healing costs a certain amount of time
This will make it more difficult to heal and thus more exciting too

bad idea, that will be very boring, always having to wait until you are fully healed, and I hate waiting for such stuff in games, it's like duke3D's health fountains... the slow healing is only good to frustrate you

Like one single idea that is probably a problem: You should be able to destroy a wooden door with your weapon if you wanted to like shooting the lock off or shooting a hole through it or blowing it up. That would be awesome if it would be possible.

Well, the good thing about Cerberus_e is that he is consistend, the bad thing is that he keeps annoying us with that.


He is right though in this case.
