Re: What was the last movie you watched?
The first 15 minutes or so of Evil Dead 2 are a quick/dirty remake of the first film.
It doesn't recon them. In Ash's world, he lost his sister, girlfriend and best friend in that cabin. It's great to get reactions of people who don't know what's going on. People like "Why is he going back to that cabin with a new girlfriend after what happened in the first film?"

Re: What was the last movie you watched?
Saw The Martian last night.
Excellent film. Perfect balance of humor and action. Kept me engaged the entire time. I have not read the book, but if the film is half as good as the book, the book should be awesome.

Watched 2 Broke Girls on TV. It's lowbrow, but it makes me laugh.

Re: What was the last movie or TV show you watched?
Six-String Samurai
Of all the Mad Max-Wizard of Oz-Sixth Sense-Highlander mashups out there, this one is definitely my favorite. Featuring the maybe/maybe not wandering spirit of Buddy Holly as a desert phantom fighting an eternal struggle to preserve Rock and Roll against the onslaught of Pop, Hip Hop, Metal, and Communism, this low budget indie succeeds with Style and Concept, even when saddled with a heavy dose of "My Next Door Neighbor" acting performances. The events of the story are open to interpretation, of course. This film sits firmly in the middle of the Surrealism genre. Other viewers take it more literally. But I prefer it the way I see it. Here's a gif I made to give you a tiny sample of the content. http://ultraimg.com/images/SSS6.gif

Re: What was the last movie or TV show you watched?
Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Loved it because it was Star Wars. The real Star Wars, with no pod races and no Jar-Jar. The intelligent part of my brain has been trying to tell me for 3 days now that the script could suck a golf ball through a garden hose. But I loved it. Because it's Star Wars. I'm confused...

Enter The Void
This is the worst movie ever made. If an enormous meteorite destroyed France, all those other 70 million deaths would be a small price to pay if it meant obliterating this film's creator. 0/100 |

Paranormal Whacktivity...
So incredibly bad it becomes great. Saw together with a mate, we laughed so hard just because of how shitty it was made. I recommend it to see in group with lots of booze, you'll have fun. |

Terminator: Genisys
The actors performed their parts well. The action is choreographed in a reasonably entertaining manner. The visual effects are above average. The camerawork is pretty nice. But... This is an all-timer of a bad script. Whoever wrote it should definitely be banned from the film industry forever. |

The Wolverine
I can't think of anything to complain about with this movie. I just found it a little dull. However, I have no emotional attachment to the character of Wolverine. I suppose fans love this film. Review scores for it are very good. I'd like to see this creative team tackle another property. |

That is a riddle. |

Nobody complains about crackers. They're not offensive to the taste buds.
Yet, I think it's perfectly legitimate to call them "dull". Such is The Wolverine. |

Re: What was the last movie or TV show you watched?
Star Wars The Force Awakens on IMAX 3D - Finally.
Felt like Star Wars, which was a big plus (main issue with Abrams' Star Trek). Simple Hero's Journey plot with characters not bogged down by needless complexities (minus a slightly ambiguous ending) and who had fairly straightforward relationships was a breath of fresh air. The action sequences were real and way better than the cg videogame platforming crap that plagued the prequels and every single Peter Jackson Hobbit movie. Was not a fan of Spoiler:

Re: What was the last movie or TV show you watched?
As for your spoiler.
I will say, Abrams did not write the film. The writer on TFA was the same guy that wrote Empire Strikes Back and Raiders of the Lost Arc. So, the idea to include something like that and then get rid of it in the same film isn't really... new for this series. But, I was glad it didn't devolve into a series of political debates and awful CGI locations. And, while there was a rescue element to the film... it wasn't as bad as it was in A New Hope. Or hell, the original trilogy in general. Ep 4, save the princess. Ep 5, save Han and the princess. Ep 6, Save Han.

Re: What was the last movie or TV show you watched?
I wasn't aware of that and should have checked this. I was under the impression that these were well established in canon or that may have featured in other non-canon media (like the Jedi Knight games). It's not bad at all for stuff that's newly introduced.

Re: What was the last movie or TV show you watched?
Flesh and Bone
A show about people who hate themselves. For people who hate themselves. I suspect Starz committed to this series based solely on that one award-winning episode of Breaking Bad from the creator (that's why I tried it out). But this isn't entertainment. It's just a bunch of rotten people wallowing in misery. There are no protagonists. No one to care about. It's no wonder there won't be a second season. |
