ROTT Wish List
Glad to see 3DR release the ROTT code. It used to be one of my favorite games, and I can't wait to play it again. In case anyone who is working on a win32 port is interested, here is a prioritized list of a few things that I would like to see added to ROTT in the future.
1. Better mouse support - Currently, the sensitivity is so low, even at the max setting, that I have to pick up the mouse 3 times to make a 180 degree turn. Very annoying [img]images/icons/frown.gif[/img] Also, support for mouse wheels and other extra buttons would be nice. Mouselook is also a must (its already in the game, just needs to have a toggle option, instead of forcing you to hold down a key all the time) 2. Improved key/button mapping - Make a typical modern control setup, where you map any button or key to a particular function, instead of seperating the mouse, keyboard, and joystick options. 3. A console - This would make a lot of functions a lot easier, such as loading custom maps, changing key bindings, activating cheats, etc... 4. Higher resoultions - ROTT would kick ass at 640*480+ 5. Better sound system - EAX, 3D sound, etc... 6. GL Support - This could be done like the Shadow Warrior 3DFX patch using all the existing art. 7. Integrated level editor - Just to save time and help you edit levels without exiting the game first. Thats all I can think of for now. Feel free to append more suggestions below. Thanks again to 3DR for finally releasing the code, and thanks to anyone working on source ports! P.S. Does anyone know a good site with info about all current ROTT ports? |
