Re: Max Payne 2 press release
since i'm austrian (which means german speaking) i might be wrong, but i just dont get why everyone connects "the fall" with "dying".
couldnt the title also somehow mean, the fall as in, the complete waste of his life, becoming some drug junkie, crying for his family 10 hours a day. just trying to pass each single day without having any meaning nomore?

something like that? thats what makes sense to me and would allow a heroic comeback in mp3 if there will ever be.

What's the difference?
In any case he'd no longer be a viable hero.

I have to agree. Max Payne was more than cool to me. Beyond words..
I get bored to death with most games, but not Max Payne - it sucked (*) me right in and woudnt let me go. But I had no expectations of it, something I do have for the sequel.

Edit:

I don't like the title. You never include a character's name in the title when it is the title.

Hey Remedy, excellent news! Fall 2003 is much better than that brutal 4 year wait for the first one (the old fans know what I mean). Just thought I'd let you guys know again that Max Payne is just incredible! The best action game I've ever played.

...i recently upgraded to a 3.06ghz beast of a computer and I'm playing Payne with every detail at full in 6x anti-aliasing and 16x anistropic filtering...it's...just...gorgeous!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Other than epic, it's really bad, sort of like the Star Wars movie titles. Sure, a nice movie reference, but I always thought of Max as an AAA-class action movie, not a B-movie.

But then again, with a skitload of games like Dead to Rights & co. coming out from every developer, maybe they should've just called it Attack of the Clones.

Actually, there was some discussion about calling the game "Max Payne II: Run! It's Baskinator", but it was decided to go something more conventional.

it seems that rockstar games is jealous of 3drealms......i mean....how can max payne sink lower if hes lost his family/ his job/ his best friend/ and hes in jail.

well unless he gets caught working 4 the russian mafia ( cos of his new Russian friend ) and that old guy bails him out for another mission....

its going to b kinda hard to explain how max payne can fall neways .....

but still......it does sound kool and i also cant wait till it comes out....( but y isnt it mentioned on the 3drealms game releases? )

Re: Max Payne 2 press release
I don't understand this...people are told right from the start that Max Payne 2 will be out in late 2003, and when there isn't a huge amount of news, they assume that the work isn't being done?! I guess I'm one of few who are not surprised to see Remedy do what they said they'd do all along, not needing constant reassurance of their efforts.

Still, where are my screenshots? I can't live without screenshots...and they had BETTER be of Sam Lake...

I agree 100%. When Max Payne was announced, the title referred to two things : maximum pain and as well as the protagonist's name. Now its kinda screwed up and I dont wanna even talk about it. Imagine this, Jar Jar Binks : The fall of Jar Jar Binks..on a second thought, dont...

Everyone's right about this.......this is no way to title something.

It should be something like: Mona's Return - The Fall of Max Payne

........or something

sit back, grab a beer and try to chill.
it's kinda funny how everybody judges the game by its title. that simple piece of written characters doesnt tell us anything about the quality of the game at all. if you dont like "the fall of max payne" just call it "max payne 2".

Great news!! The sub-title seems somewhat corny, but there's no doubt that it will be a great game nonetheless. I still think that "Max Payne 2: New Yorker" and "Max Payne 2: Electric Boogaloo" were great titles.

There's gotta be a reference about Baskinator somewhere in the game. That'd make everyone's day here.
