I'm not knocking a sequel, thats great. But I think theres money to be made in mission packs again and added value for the customer who buys the original

Anyway, I have this feeling that this sequel won't offer anything new and will feel more like an expansion pack, which does not bode well. I hope I'm wrong though.

Looks like yet another game to get this fall!

This fast release is actually very unexpected to me. I thought it would take at least until mid 2004...
And I was not the only one: I've read game-magazines estimating end 2004 / start 2005 ! (Adding some sort of "WID" or "you know 3D Realms" remark )
My oh my, are those guys proven wrong!

...Too bad my PC is hopelessly out of date though, I'm sure it's not able to run MP2. Damn I need a new computer soon

Just out of curiosity, what do you think the minimum requirements for Max Payne 2 will be this time around? Or can you reveal stuff like that at the moment?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">I'm not complaining, i'm saying that companies use to do that successfully. In the case of Quake and Half Life, the expansion paks were given to other companies to work on. It seems to me if you go to all the trouble of making a new engine, you should put out some expansions for 15-20 dollars.

Good God, 2003 truly is the year of the sequels. First HL2 now MP2.

Also, I think a more interesting title+story would be The Fall of the Inner Circle or The Inner Circle or The Fall of Woden or The Fall of Alfred Woden.
The list goes on and on...

Re: Max Payne 2 press release
How is 3D Realms involved in this version of Max Pyane? I didn't see any mention of them in the press release.

Another question, What the heck is the difference from Take-Two and Rockstar Games? So Rockstar publishes the game, but what is Take-Two in this? Is Rockstar just some made up marketing pseudonym that Take-Two likes to publish under? Ahhh the confusion! What is the need for this other label, can't Take-Two publish under their own name? And hasn't Take-Two published under their own name before? Well at least I know Remedy is still the developer.

MP definitely had its upsides; the bullet time effect was refreshing, the game had a nice atmosphere to it and some of the locations were novel (I particularly liked the rock club).
I think the last part of the game summed up both the pros and cons however - some really impressive architecture and set pieces (mostly the helicopter scene), marred by the excruciating "die, reload, face the exact same (unfair) situation a million times until you finally get through, save, die, etc" style.

To me, MP highlighted the echec of the rigidly scripted gameplay mechanic.
I hope the boys from Finland have found a way to remedy this (har, har) and additionally manage to offer a lot more depth to the game, otherwise I foresee more frustration about what could have been.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">I actually liked that. When I first played through the game I replayed almost every shootout until I got through them all with full health. It was fun. It really brought into spotlight the whole action-movie thing. Hell, it was almost like playing a puzzle game, trying to figure out the best moves for a given situation.

And about the name: If Take2 has another sequel planned for 2005, I don't think Max is going to die. Unless of course, the sequel is a prequel? Or maybe this first sequel is a prequel, the fall meaning it's the autumn before the worst winter in New York.. Who knows?

Well..

"The Fall of Max Payne".. yeah.. I'm not sure about the title..
I heard someone else mention Max Payne 2 "When it's done..."

But so far I know some of the key holes...

Alfred Wooden is having a hard time.. I can tell you that..
Max will black mail him or something because he has some evidence.(Max wants to get outside jail.). (Yes, the videotape he found on Alfred Woodens desk in the Aasgard-building.)

And those stuff on the tape is ofcourse candy dawn giving him the dirty pleasures..

Anyway.. Wooden wants that tape... from Max dead fingers...
Max wants to get out... and Wooden fail his promises to MAX.

And Vlad... he seems to be stuck in between...
