Re: Is there a way to play Twin Dragon on jSW ?
Lol - thanks for that Warhammer
ProAsm - nice touches on Tne - i see that you also couldn't disable the cda for level1 or change the skill headings - i guess they are hard coded. Jonof - I don't know if this is a bug or a restraint - when playing mods with jfsw hrp they run fine if the mod file is a grp or an uncompressed zip - but if the zip is compressed then crashes occur. I have tried this out also with many duke levels with the same deal - It seems the compression either cannot handle or corupts the extra defs. |

Re: Is there a way to play Twin Dragon on jSW ?
You should never use compression for mods or hrp since it will slow down loading of assets anyway. Its a bit wierd that it crashes the game though never happend to me in duke when I made hrp sip files that were compressed by mistake.

Re: Is there a way to play Twin Dragon on jSW ?
LOL, sorry on the link, I forgot it was a Unix server which is case sensitive.
Yeah all the other stuff was done by SwGroup at the time and currently is not part of SwCustom.txt but we will get there. I will look at the code and see what can be done. Talk about crashing to the desktop, I also noticed if I use a Zip file instead of a Grp file it crashes 10 times more often, as I do my testing with a Zip file as its quicker.

ProAsm
Nice lot of levels you've converted here - do you have any desktop icons for any of them or some good sw icons? Thx again. |

I have a complete Launcher for the Game, User Maps and TC's if you're interested.

Re: Is there a way to play Twin Dragon on jSW ?
All converted TC's are in grp format and should be unzipped to the SW folder. Each has a batch file to start it. With that setup all we really need is a small launcher that scans for grp files, grabs the corresponding bats (scan for grp incase bat exists without a grp file) and lists them with some sort of selector.
Run 1 exe and choose which TC to play. I'll be very amazed if something "like" this doesn't already exist !! Anyone ? p.s. just a possible 2 TC's to go Besides the 11 that are done and Wang City, does anyone know any others ? Theres the Wanton Destruction demo (pretty good as i recall)...

Re: Is there a way to play Twin Dragon on jSW ?
I went through this thread and got almost all of the TCs mentioned. Thanks guys, especially ProAsm.
Problem, though. Not sure if it's the mapper's fault or the engine's fault or what, but on Amazon, I crazy out very frequently. No error message, just a black screen, then it's gone. Any ideas? |

Re: Is there a way to play Twin Dragon on jSW ?
That Amazon "TC" is just one level, and the crashing is specific to that level, it's been fine for me otherwise. Now if only I could REMEMBER to save :P

Re: Is there a way to play Twin Dragon on jSW ?
Its more than 1 level, i know cos i've got to the second one. It crashes on level 2 intermittently as well, and i have no clue why. Mine just dumps me back to windows. Quick reload and its fine... weird.

Re: Is there a way to play Twin Dragon on jSW ?
Here is a SkyBox that replaces the custom tile 5675 in the Park TC which ProAsm modified for jfsw.
http://www.tugr.com/Park_Skybox.zip I do not recall who made the textures - it was part of a skybox tutorial from the Duk3D source code forum. Anyway, extract the .zip file into a temp directory. There are 6 .JPGs and the Park.def file. I added a skybox defimition line to the .def file. Open Park.grp (I use Grp Studio) and insert the files. You will be asked to overwite Park.def. Save and play the TC. |

Re: Is there a way to play Twin Dragon on jSW ?
It appears that the web site for Grp Studio is no mare so I zipped the files and put them here:
http://www.tugr.com/GrpStudio.zip Grp Studio worked with every Duke3D grp I have modified. If a Shadow Warrior grp is unrecognized by Grp Studio use swgrpext.com and then repack it. |

Re: Is there a way to play Twin Dragon on jSW ?
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/hitt.man/SW/
This isn't all the TC's as a couple are huge and a couple fail to work with the launcher but its a good kickstart. If anyone tried this link and the page fails, please let me know as it'll likely be my isp shutting it down. HRP removed due to being out of date (will replace later) and SantaWang removed as it was temporary anyway (its not functional with JFSW or SWP yet). btw, the park TC has the new skybox added, but it doesn't seem to work. I musta done something wrong i spose... They all include a .bat file for use with JonoF's port and these all seem to work in the Launcher. However a couple may have weird flashing incorrect textures in places, which is possibly due to HRP conflicts.

Re: Is there a way to play Twin Dragon on jSW ?
is it really possible to load a texture from a grp file and also a diff one (same texture number) from the HRP and have them switching in game ?
Maybe a JonoF port bug ?? Its not a major deal, but its a little distracting ingame.

Re: Is there a way to play Twin Dragon on jSW ?
Not if a specific texture has been defined in a .def but if it hasn't then yes, it will load from the hrp folder or from wherever you want it to load from.
I've also noticed the extra flashing when using a zip file instead of a grp file, although I've searched the code flat and cannot see why there should be a difference. Basically what happens is the grp or zip file is completely 'unzipped' or 'ungrouped' into memory now which was not possible before in 1998 as those days computers never had much memory and JF has now done away with the memory check constraints. This memory section is basically a duplication of the SW root folder and its directly equivalent as if you dumped all the files into your SW root folder which makes me wonder why we are getting flashes etc. I'll continue scratching as I'm also getting a hell of a lot of Desktop crashes especially with Usermaps.
