I thought the N64 version of Duke3d, although "watered" down, was pretty damn good! But now we have the 360 version

I tried playing Total Meltdown a few weeks ago and I just couldn't. The controls just don't cut it for me, and combined with the graphics\framerate it is almost unplayable IMHO. Cool back in the day, but not so much now.

I remember liking the 4th episode, but it is impossible for me to try playing now. I guess I'm not as skilled as I used to be and not as tolerant of erratic framerates.

God, shooting the shotgun at enemies with the Xbox 360 control I could imagine would feel very satisfying.

That makes me realize I don't recall reading anything about rumble support.
I do hope that was added as well!

You don't want to know what we play it on in the theatre room at 3DR, eh, Steve?

Wait, there's some pictures of that setup on the forums already. Go look at this post I made back in June of 2006. Shows me standing in front of the giant HDTV projector when I was downloading the Prey demo the day it came out.

No not really. Kudos to 3DR for doing this but I have no desire to pay to play on Xbox Live. I hooked my Xbox online when I first got it for kicks, but disconnected and only play it for single player games. And if I want some Duke I play on PC for free.

That's funny as hell, when I look at those pictures it's like looking at my screen on my screen

Although I'm sure mine is older and not quite as sharp it looks quite good using vga

It's a toss up for me. I find it amazing that after 12 years and re-releasing Duke 3d on almost every platform known to man this still constitutes the bulk of their sales. No wonder they don't give a darn to get DNF out. Why waste all their time, or 25% of their non warcraft time, working on a new game when you can just re-release the old one and make millions?

Prowler46 does have a point, also another game to prove that point is Final Fantasy 7. So many spin offs, remakes, prequels, and non canon sequels.

But back on topic, no i will not buy Duke 3D on xbla for a couple reasons

1) i already got it on my computer

2) my xbox 360 cant get internet

Definite purchase. Duke3D for PC was and still is my favourite game of all time. A good mate and i have already planned to play through all 4 episodes in co-op next weekend. Its kind of surreal that it is actually coming out, Duke3D for XBLA has always been for me one of those "Wouldn't it be cool if...?" type of scenarios. Cannot wait to play again.

You tell em, George. I was there months before the original shareware even came out waiting eagerly for DN3D the first time around, and had the full game preordered months in advance. I'll be there on day 1 when it comes to XBLA. Why? Simply put, it's one of the most fun games I've played in the last 12 years (and for FPS games, there have been alot of them in the years between that have missed the mark IMO) and it's alure endures.

Looking forward to playing a decent (indecent?) stable game of Dukematch: Used to play it over the net via Kali (via the DOS version.. not that Kali95 gui crap..) and in most cases, best you could hope for was one-on-one.. usually more than that would de-sync within minutes. Ah.. those were the days.
