Mirrors
I tried making a mirror but for some reason its not even working in the editor. I selected surface properties and checked the mirror box and when I went to view it it did not act like a mirror at all.

Re: Mirrors
What version of Unreal are you using?

Re: Mirrors
No, unrealed 3 is just the 3rd version of the editor and has nothing to do with the engine version number.

Re: Mirrors
Exactly, Unreal Engine 3.0 will come with UnrealED 4.0. The perhaps most revolutionary feature of UnrealED 4.0 is that is will support Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.

Re: Mirrors
Ok, guys - now tell us how to make mirrors in UnrealEd 3.0?
I got the exact same problem some time ago...

Re: Mirrors
Right click on any BSP surface and go into surface properties. Check the 'Mirror' checkbox. The mirror wont show up in the editor.
To have it show up ingame, you have to edit your UT2004.ini and set UseStencil to True under your renderer settings (D3D or OpenGL). They pretty badly affect the frame rate, and only players who have edited the .ini will see them. For these reasons mirrors are rather useless in the game.

Re: Mirrors
Also note that if you put 2 mirrors on the opposite side of each other, they will reflect into each other creating a "hall of mirrors" effect, but for only 3 times. Epic found out that unless they cut off the reflections, it'll kill the engine.

Re: Mirrors
It will only render 3 reflections deep.

Re: Mirrors
That's a good way to kill your level performance

Re: Mirrors
obviously, but since it does not render into infinity it could work if you leave out fancy eye candy and work just with BSP and add a lot of zones ( talk about compromising, leaving out eyecandy to add eyecandy )
