Balls of Steel?
Why isn't Balls of Steel included with the 3D Realms Anthology or listed on the games page? It's currently available on GoG.com so I see no reason why it wouldn't be so much as referenced here.

I'm guessing its because its a windows game (everything in the anthology is from the DOS days) but I agree, it would have been nice to have.

As Balls of Steel is currently unavailable for purchase on the 3D Realms store I'm posting a link to where to purchase the GoG.com version. Click the image above to be directed to the GoG.com store page for Balls of Steel.

oooh right. I forgot about that one. I don't know that I'd count eduke32 though, since its just files in the folder and not part of the anthology launcher.

Are you just gonna spam Steam/GoG store pages in every post you make?

Re: Balls of Steel?
The information is relevant to the topic given it's not available on the 3D Realms store as is my three other posts with links to games in them as nowhere on the new 3D Realms website does it mention the availability of any of the titles anywhere except here which is a shame given some fantastic titles are currently absent from their own store while being available elsewhere and well done ports like Shadow Warrior Classic Redux and Shadow Warrior iOS don't even get a mention. Oh, and for the record currently four out of my eighteen posts have contained links to 3D Realms/Apogee titles available on GoG.com and Steam which is hardly spamming especially when it's relevant up until 3D Realms decides to provide links to these titles on other services.

That has nothing to do with it. The game has some problems and doesn't run right on the current version of Windows. That is why it wasn't there. The hope is it can get worked out, and BoS will get added into the pack at some future time. No solid news beyond that.

If you remember, the last version of BoS included a user patch, because the original programmers didn't want to (or couldn't - I honestly don't remember now) fix it. There was a USER PATCH made available that let it run in what was then the current version of Windows (I think Windows 98?, not sure on timing now).

Either way it was not included for technical reasons. Nothing to do with DOS/Windows.

Have you guys tried using patches etc from here? http://forums.duke4.net/topic/7341-w...atches-by-mok/

I use the Balls of Steel Loader here to run the game on Windows 8.1 just fine although not sure how you'd go about contacting some of the people involved.

We're aware of user patches. But that's not quite the same thing as a recoded game to work properly. Can't always distribute user content, as you never TRULY know what it is in it. Has to be fixed "the right way", know what I mean?

It took Interceptor 6 months to "fix" a problem with Manhattan Project on Steam. I am just concerned that it will take just as long to fix other games in their back catalog...

Re: Balls of Steel?
The prospect of Balls of Steel is good news, though pinball games have never held my attention for very long. I remember seeing this in boxed form way back when. Those were the days.

All I want though is for the Anthology (and the individual install shells) to be updated so that the existing save data and high scores are reset (whilst using the most recent, stable versions of all of the games).

Also, is there any particular reason why Xenophage: Alien Bloodsport (which was released as freeware some time ago) is absent from the anthology?

My favorite thing about Balls of Steel was that it was the only pinball game (to that point) that ever got a violence rating.

Oh well... since they didn't release Balls of Steel for Easter, it MUST be set for release on Independence Day!

Maybe we should just ask Steve... "I believe... in Steve."

They're separate entries in the SteamDB so they will so there will be two entries for Duke 3D on Steam, just that you won't be able to get this 3D Realms version on its own but only through the 3D Realms Anthology.

2 Things since we are talking about this

1. On Duke 1 and Duke 2 for some odd reason I'm playing the game agood 5 mins later for me the screen goes black for a sec then my game is side-wards

2. when I change keyboard settings and play the game it doesn't do that side-wards thing to me but when I get the game and come back to it the settings are default is there away to save the settings on those port or am I Screwed?

Windows 8 and up has a keyboard shortcut where Ctrl+Alt+[Arrow Key] changes the orientation of the screen. In the interim, you should research how to disable this.
