Considering a "Super Duke Nukem Bros." map.
Well, after a successful New Super Mario Bros. launch for the DS, as well as playing all the Mario games for GameCube, maybe the N64, too... I thought to myself that it would be a great idea to design a map after the famed New SMB. It would feature Duke with power-ups that you would have to fly on top of brick pillars to claim powerups (a jetpack = Super Mushroom). Devestator = Fireballs, and maybe something else to consider, too... Looks like Duke's enemies could crawl up along the way. Then again, a map like this would work better in DN: MP rather than Duke 3D... Not too sure how to go through with a map like this, please advise.

It'd require some extensive con editing.

You could probably map in DNMP, but not mod it much. Can you show some screenies? I'm not familiar with the "Bros" at all, as far as playing.

Yeah, Duke may not have a "Luigi" brother, unless... Hmm, I may be giving 3DR ideas of doing something after DNF, so I'd better keep this project quiet. Maybe a 3DR/Apogee version of Super Smash Bros., I wonder? Naw, better not suggest that... Must have my mind too much on my GameCube trade.

Back on topic, well, maybe an FPS version of Super Mario Bros for Duke 3D may probably have some drawbacks, but I could do a low, parallaxed ceiling, have floor and ceiling bricks (albeit ones made of sprites you can jump through to claim some goodies, or nothing at all). It would probably be too linear on top of that... I'm gonna be a little careful about a map like this.

RG: You seriously have never heard of Mario? That's rather surprising.

Re-read my post please. I know about them, I've just never played them. I've only played computer games since 1996. No consoles please.

I was asking for screenshots to get an idea for a level that could be built in the DNMP editor. That's all. Sorry for the confusion.

Ah, my appologies.

Screen shots taken from the first level of the classic Super Mario Bros:

or you could make the map similar to the ones in mario 64, that game had a completly 3d environment.

and was an amazing game when I played it back then, still is though.

Definitely doable, though. It would take a good bit of coding, but it would mostly be about a moderate difficulty level.

Yep. IIRC there was a Mario mod that was like 75% done con wise, and that was for 1.5.

That was a 3D Mario approach, though. I'm referring to an actual 2D sidescroller.

Either that, or maybe like Super Mario Sunshine, too, that's another idea...
