Editart guide suggestions
I'm going to release v1.6 of the editart guide shortly (far from the huge overhaul 2.0 version I started to do last winter, but better than nothing), adding in info on making new skies and fixing some typos. Is there anything you want to see in the guide that isn't there? Small suggestions or pressing-issue-suggestions may make it into 1.6 (read: end of this week), while longer ones may make a future update. Thanks.

An update to the tools section and some additional links to external sites on the more generic aspects of art and such would be useful.
Perhaps some notes on other .ART tiles editors (OGLEA and DukeResArt being major ones) considering they have their own strengths compared to Editart.
Also perhaps some more information on prepping images for use in Editart.

Thanks for the suggestions. 1.6 will be up whenever Corv gets around to uploading it. It has a few updates in terms of other art programs, although I can't locate a copy of opengl editart. Plus there's an incomplete draft of the overhauled 2.0 version available for viewing and feedback. I haven't finished the chapter on prepping images for editart, but what's there may be more clear than what I have in 1.5/1.6.

Your editorial is terrible, you got me hooked on that!

Kiddin’
If you are looking for other inexpensive programs; With Strada 3D you can make good weapons if you have the patients to make the textures, but costs nothing.
I never used Editart for anything than to flood sprites with the ‘pink’ color. Nothing else seem to work. For sequencing and image adjustment I use Dukeres, it is much simpler. Yet, if you where to expand you tutorial into how to take a photograph and make that into a patterned tile, may help the new artist to make a lot of them. Yes, more work ... hey just a thought. You're right, I didn't spend a lot of time adding to the art programs section. I'll add Strata3D, I-Tex, Gimp, and a few others to the new doc.

I considered several tutorial-type sections, but the problem is I'd have to make versions for several paint programs. PSP users won't be able to use Photoshop instructions all the time and vice versa. I may link to external tutorials though. Palette conversion is a big problem that I'm going to try to cover thoroughly, and maybe a newbie-happy image-to-sprite tutorial could happen.
