Re: Someone Else Says Max Payne 3 Is In Development
Because they don't want to announce that it's in development then have everyone asking when it's coming out and that sort of thing. They can work quietly on the game and then start hyping it closer to release.

Re: Someone Else Says Max Payne 3 Is In Development
Not to mention avoiding all the flack they would get for cancelling projects. I wouldn't be surprised if there are 2+ canceled games for each released game. You just don't notice it since they are canceled before even getting announced. There is simply nothing to gain on announcing a game early. Just look at DNF for an extreme example of a to early announced game.

Re: Someone Else Says Max Payne 3 Is In Development
Not all that surprised (if true) that a new Max Payne is in the works. But, not sure if I even want it. Without 3DRealms producing and Remedy developing... I have little to no faith in it. Even coming from Rockstar.

"Even" coming from Rockstar?
I say especially. I don't feel like reading about Max Payne 3 launching on Xbox 360 with exclusive "DLC" followed by a PS3 version later. And no PC version, no, we mean it this time. (Maybe a GFWL exclusive in a year.) |

Re: Someone Else Says Max Payne 3 Is In Development
Last night I just finished playing Max 2 and before that I played max 1 again. (Haven't played either game in years.) Honestly I can't see them making another game. Pretty much everyone is dead! I guess max will get new enemies. Honestly I think the best ending for the series is the ending where Mona lives, you can then infer that they will start a relationship meaning max has found love and a reason to live again, and then ending with "I had a dream of my wife. she was dead. But it was alright." Honestly I thin kthat is perfect. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Someone Else Says Max Payne 3 Is In Development
That's exactly the problem IMO, the ending for Max in part 2 was just perfect, he finally learned to live with the death of his loved ones.
All they can do now in MP3 that doesn't turn the franchise into something like the Death Wish series (oh crap, nazi surfer punkers killed my best friend's neighbour's cusin! I'm gonna avenge him, I'll kill everyone) is to let Max himself die. Max Payne 3: The Death Of Max Payne? Unlikely choice. It would end the franchise unless you can manage to create a new one out of this (Jim Bravura: The Early Years [now I finally understand that Ludacris casting! They try to establish him for the next game! ] ).

Re: Someone Else Says Max Payne 3 Is In Development
it would be best for marketing if they hook the public when the movie comes... if the movie is as good as it seems then it truly is the perfect platform to lauch the game and get the public excited...
games with NO HYPE i could careless about... honestly... EG: Sacred 2, almost no hype.. really good game but i really didnt hear about it or even cared about looking into it... take a look at Diablo 3 and there info roll out.. its a perfectly tuned hype machine... enough to make you happy but always wanting more... its nothing like diablo 2 infact its god of war meets titans quest YET im so intrigued i must play it... a pretty little candyland with health orbs and only 10-20% random gen everything else static *yawn* but still im going to blow the $60 for collectors... |

Yes, even coming from Rockstar. Other than the main GTA games (none of the PSP ones) and the first Manhunt, I don't really like the other games Rockstar has done. And that includes the Warriors.

Re: Someone Else Says Max Payne 3 Is In Development
One think I like about a potential Max Payne sequel is that it should be relatively easy to make it good, as long as they stay true to the franchise. And yes, that means James McCaffrey as the voice of Max Payne.
I think MP2 corrected some flaws with MP1, but introduced a couple of its own. Bullet-time in MP1 was way more hardcore, being less effective, consumed by shoot dogdes and not regenerating over time. MP2 went a bit overboard with turning that on its head. You could use it frivolously which isn't the best idea either. I think the sweet spot lies in a regenerating BT bar like in MP2 but less maximum capacity. This way you wouldn't get stuck without BT but you wouldn't be able to just turn it on by default and finish every fight with a 100% BT uptime either. You'd have to use it with care and be effective to keep it mid-fight. Perhaps it'd only self-regenerate up to half bar and require kills for the rest? So you're faced with the decision of either using it a lot and constantly keeping it halved, or fight in real time and save up to full in case you really need a lot. That'd factor in health and painkiller amounts in your decisions, too, which I think is good. If you're low, you could either use BT frequently to avoid further damage, or taking a chance and go after enemies old style (VHDN reference), in the hope that a full bar will get you through that possibly upcoming big brawl alive.

You skimmed me dincha Damien. I'd give them far less credit than that, which is why I said especially coming from Rockstar.

Re: Someone Else Says Max Payne 3 Is In Development
The problem with mp2 is that you could beat it in the time it will take you to watch the new movie.
But seriously, any new game will just end up looking like a clone of something else.

Re: Someone Else Says Max Payne 3 Is In Development
i would like to see you beat max payne 2 in one and a half hour, i'd say average playtime was around 5-6 hours if you're just playing it to finish the game. While looking around for lots if the eater eggs and listening to conversations and watching all the TV-shows will give you perhaps 2-4hours more of playtime. Took myself 10hours the first time i played it.

I also doubt Halo would have done any worse if they didn't announce it early. Remeber all the flack they got when it was moved from MAC/PC to xbox? Probably didn't affect the sales much but if it did I would imagen it was for the worse. |
