Re: Still working on it...
Well, the music has been like that for hundreds of Years, in most countries, but in Caclutta, it might actually be different.
I don't quite know how to write it in the style you use though Sayantan. Sorry about that. Here's the midi file though, Hope it helps. |

Re: Still working on it...
Hey, I can't believe your playing that for a school exhibition. I hope people like my rendition of the Song. THough, most of the parents probably won't know what the Max Payne Theme is.

Re: Still working on it...
Wow man. I can't believe you were so good. Maybe coz I was only seeing the notations and I dont f**king understand it.
But there's still a small problem which is negligible though. You should have followed a metronome and later on muted it. I hope u understand what I mean. Edit: I'm gonna make it a ring tone and share among all my friends.

Wow, that was great...
I've quit playing piano for a few years, but I'll download the sheet music and try it out. |

Re: Still working on it...
I did follow a metronome. I used sibelius, and it has a metronome built in.
If you want a proper sort of version you want to make a ring tone, You might want to try using the other Midi File that I think is at the beginning of Page 2. Thats got more instruments and sounds slightly (just slightly) better for Polyphonic Ringtones. |

Re: Still working on it...
You do know Sibelius was a Finnish composer, don't you?

Re: Still working on it...
Yeah, of course I know Sibelius was Finnish. His music is pretty interesting. Very hard though. Hope to play some of his music in 2 or 3 years.

Geez, and I gave Finlandia's notes to my previous teacher and she just played right there, prima vista!

Re: Still working on it...
I can do that with some Pieces, I can now read sight-read Grade 8 Pieces pretty well. I won't be happy though until I can sight read Beethoven Sonatas and CHopin Piano Concertos like my University Piano Teacher... She's good.
Quick Question Joonas - How many years have you been playing? |

Re: Still working on it...
I'm 16 now and I've been playing approx. nine years.

Re: Still working on it...
Thats pretty good. I'm glad people are still playing the piano. You don't find a lot of people do now. Pity.
What I would like to do is during the holidays at the end of the year, is to try and transcribe the Song 'Late Goodbye' for the Piano - just like I did for the Max Payne Theme. Don't know If I'll be allowed to though, you know all that Permission crap and legal mumbo jumbo. |

Re: Still working on it...
I'll wait to see if anyone else is interested in getting the Piano Version of Late Goodbye. See if it's worth doing.
I love doing this sort of thing... It doesn't take me that long, (I practice on classical music and try write the music without having seen the piece or played it. It's fun. Gives me a challenge.) I just hope I don't spend my time doing this and get in trouble by Poets of the Fall or anything... I mean I am technically giving their music out for nothing if I were to do it... Thats what gets me... Anyway, enough of my babbling and complaining. I'll see if people are interested in it. |

Re: Still working on it...
I just got word from Take 2 - You'll be happy to hear this.
About your question: I must admit I am not really sure how the copyright stuff goes in this case, but I'd imagine that as long as you don't make any profit with it (like you said), and it's clearly indicated that the transcript is made by you and it's not an "official" one, I don't think there will be any problems. BTW, Billy Joel's Piano Man is one of my favourite tracks of all time! Best reagrds, Markus "Captain" Kaarlonen Poets of the Fall |

I might not be able to do it for a month or two, as I have Uni exams coming up pretty soon, but I swear, as soon as the exams are over, you'll have the PIano notes for Late Goodbye, and the midi.

Re: Late Goodbye
Thanks man. I will. I just want to quickly ask a question: What type of guitar is used in the Late GOod bye Theme (eg. Overdrive, Nylon, Standard?)
I know nothing about the different sounds of guitars, so it would help a bit. Sorry, (I am a piano player so I know nothing about guitars. ) |

Re: Late Goodbye
IMO it did sound like a nylon string guitar. If that sounds really odd, use the plain/simple/clean acoustic guitar.

Re: Late Goodbye
In the forum of their website there's a link to a video where Poets play live on some Finish TV show. They play accustic versions of 'Late Goodbye' and 'Beautiful Ones'. As far as I know the guitar player was using a dreadnought western guitar.

Re: Late Goodbye
Well, I've started on it, and so far I've only done the first 30 seconds. I will do the whole thing, so don't panic and I want to try and have it done before Christmas.
I had to replace the voice part with piano, only because the voice oohs and aahs are really annoying. Tell me what you think of it so far. Eg, the guitar effects and anything like that. |

Re: Late Goodbye
Hey nice work, some bits are abit off but I just can't pinpoint where at the moment.
Finish up the whole song and then I'll make my final critics Once it is finished, send it to the POTF boys. They'll love it. Speaking of which, I have to make a new topic about something related.. check out for it |

Re: Late Goodbye
OK, just an update on how 'Late Goodbye' is coming along.
I've done almost 2 mins of the song, and all I have to do left is the sort of mini coda and then the actual chorus theme is repeated about 4 or 5 times before fading out with little variations. Tried to add the Drumming in the background, but since it is a Midi instrument, It sounded a little cheap when the volume was up, so I tuned down the drums a little. Just need to put in the Overdrive guitar that appears in the 2nd half of the song. Overall, Hope you like it so far. |

Re: Still working on it...
I AM SO DESPERATELY SORRY FOR THE NO SHOW...
My Brilliant (crappy GeForce 5900XT) Graphics Card - died on me 4 weeks ago... and I just got a Brand New X800 Graphics Card Put in 2 days ago... So for a while I didn't have a computer to use. I am so sorry about that, but I have been working on the Late Goodbye Piano Version. So far I have only the first page... but it is attached. Tell me that you think. (Note that this music is a little harder than the Max Payne Theme transcription I did, so be warned. I will not make 5 or 6 copies of this for different difficulty levels. I'm sorry.) |

hello, needa help :)
hello. i've got a little problem - i've never played max payne, but what i really love is the theme by the poets of the fall - the late goodbye. i was trying to get the notes and i have them - but only for guitar, for the unplugged version, not the instrumental, one of the most beautiful songs of these days - and i desperately (almost ) need them. i know u were talking about it, but i dunno in which connections, i didn't read it all. well, i'd like to ask u - do u have it or do u know where to get it?
thanx for answer of any kind... |

Re: hello, needa help :)
I finished it about 2 weeks ago and I wanted to send it to Poets of the Fall before I release it on the Net - Just to see what they thought of it.... But so far I haven't heard any response from them.
Just before I release it to you guys... I'm just wondering how many people are interested in the sheet music for Late Goodbye??? If I don't hear anything from POTF in the next 2 or 3 days - I might just put it on the net - whether they like it or not - because I don't want to have spent all this time doing it, just to have them come back and say it sucked and they don't want it released After all - it is their song. |
