TiMidity++ Music
I've got TiMidity++ set up in Linux with some kickass GUS patches. Anyways, the music sounds absolutely amazing, much better than it does usually. TiMidity++ supports WAV output, so I can easily convert all the tracks to MP3s or OGGs, possibly for use the glROTT port (or whatever).
I haven't made them yet, just wondering if anyone is interested at all.

Re: TiMidity++ Music
That's a pretty good idea. Some of the songs sound pretty good from Timidity (shards for example) but you can also experiment with other software synths before you go along (like Virtual Sound Canvas or the S-YXG series).
In general, it's a good idea for people who don't have ANY Sb support on their soundcards (like me. I have a damn Santa Cruz.... No sound for me)

Timidity++ is what I used to make my ROTT soundtrack CD. Kicks ass.

Re: TiMidity++ Music
Well could you post a sample on how much better it sounds?

Re: TiMidity++ Music
Seems to me that Lee (Jackson) said that ROTT's music was made specifically for GUS...

Re: TiMidity++ Music
Those tracks certainly sound a lot better than the crap my soundcard produces.
Surely it would make more sense to program the MIDI player in Rott to use the patches than to distribute the wave outputted files?

Re: TiMidity++ Music
Those are great! I real like the sounds of the sawtooth wave, bass sounds, drums, and brass. The only thing I really don't like about these is the reverb on the strings and square wave. It seems to 'smear' the sound. But, these still rock.

Crosma,
Which patches did you get? I went through the pain of downloading those eawpatches... |

Re: TiMidity++ Music
I'd probably try to replace the square wave voice because it has a bit too much echo in it and not enough bite. I know this because I've wanted to make a cd, but there's just too much echo in the square wave (and that voice is used thoroughly). If I find good samples I'll try to convert them to .pat files but it may take time.
I have a whole bunch of soundfonts (about 2 gigs worth) on my other computer. I may go try to find some good samples on it. [ 01-14-2003, 05:22 PM: Message edited by: Crezzy_man ]
