using the dopefish in my game ...

hi

i'm currently writing a bomberman-clone and would like to add the dopefish somewhere as easter egg, special character or something.
now my question is: is it legal to use the fish freely or do I need to pay, lets say, a large amount of money to ID-Software first ?

Legally, you need id Software's permission to use it. That hasn't stopped others, though.

I don't advocate doing this, you should probably write to id first.
