3D Realms and other companies
OK firstly, I wasnt sure what forum to put this in, but since this is a game industry question I figured it would be OK in here.
3d realms is assosciated with Remedy, taking them under their wing in a manner of speaking helping them out with max payne. Why did they decide to do this and do they look out for other companies to support. If so, what criteria do they follow? By the way, no I dont have a company looking to get under the 3drealms banner. |

Re: 3D Realms and other companies
3drealms are also into producing games since they have a hard time making them
IT IS about money...and they did a great job hypeing Max-Paine.

Re: 3D Realms and other companies
In the olden days, Apogee used to be a publisher (don't know how do they refer to themselves today). Companies like Id Software used to publish games through Apogee, using the company's experience and funds.
the company still have games that are published under the 3drealms name, even if not published by them, like they did with Remedy, or even with the Duke Nukem: Manhatten Project game. |

Re: 3D Realms and other companies
No, those weren't publisher through 3D Realms. I think 3DR just watched their progress and helped them along, and might have funded the project. I think 3DR funded Max Payne, but not DN:MP, I'm not sure.

Re: 3D Realms and other companies
Let me try to be clearer: Published UNDER the 3dR name. Not by 3dR.
They refer to the role they fill in the games' development as "producers". Max Payne was developed by Remedy, produced by 3dR, published by GodGames, distributed by Take 2.... you can get lost pretty fast in those titles these days. Same with DN:MP, it was developed by Sunstorm, based on the 3dR characters who also "overlooked" the project, and was published by Arush. |
