I have no favourite, they all serve a useful purpose wherever they are located.

Red - Long-distance, high-power, rapid-fire.

Ice - Powerful, close-quarters, cool 'Frozen' effect on dead enemies.

Lightning - Extremely powerful, Long-distance.

Solar - Extemely powerful, rapid-fire, cool effects.

Lightening is my fav. Feels like it has such force and power to it, plus it downs most enemies in two shoots.

My least fav is Ice. While good for smaller enemies it's not a great on tougher baddies. Plus you have to get pretty close.

As much as I love the Lightning and Solar ammos, I think the original red stuff is still my favorite. It has a good rate of fire, good damage, and doesn't deplete too quickly. Conversely, the lightning and solar ammos are incredibly powerful, but run out WAY too quickly.

I'm not a huge fan of those "special occasion" guns you get in some games, like the BFG or Dark Matter Gun (in Q4). I just get the impression that lightning and solar ammo turn your Leech Gun into one of those special occasion guns as I'm unwilling to use the gun on regular monsters for fear of running into something HUGE that I'd actually need that kind of firepower to take down. If I keep the red ammo loaded, I can use the Leech Gun on anything I want without worry.

The Ice ammo... well... I just plain hate that. I haven't found a situation yet where the Leech Gun loaded with ice ammo is useful.

i had a feeling most people would like the sun beam. i mean its a good element ammo. the only thing i use it on, are those things that come out of the vagina looking portals.

I think my favorite ammo type for the leech gun was the lightning bolt/railgun in disguise. I would have said the sunbeam, but the restrictions it places on your movement when firing make it less efficient for me to clear a room with.

Favorites (In order)
Lightning - powerful, accurate, and long distance. The gasbags won't dodge it (but they do dodge sniper fire!)
Plasma - good heavy spray - lots of ammo and pretty good damage.
Sun - best ammo, but hindered (on purpose) by limited availability.
Ice - cool effect, but not for serious enemies who will still hit you while you freeze them.

That Sunbeam is like none other! I was blown away when I first fired that thing. I actually clicked and let go as if it were a single shot ammo like lightning - not knowing it was a continuous beam - but the beam was so big bright and powerful feeling, and it absolutely smoked my target (which was just a Hunter) that it made quite an impression on me anyway.

I want a jukebox attack
You leech a certain song, and when you shoot, different enemies react in different ways. Some would run away (covering their ears?) while others would just get more determined to kill you

How about if we hit an enemy with the alt-fire, it leeches off a little bit of health for us?

Say, if I use it against a Hunter, it takes several seconds to kill him and gives me something like 1/4 of my HP back. That way, it's not really practical to use in the middle of a heavy firefight, but it could be beneficial against one or two weaker monsters.

That also opens up some interesting level design possibilities. Put us in a very intense fight that's likely to leave us wounded, then in the next room, instead of handing us some health pads, give us a couple of Fodder or Hunters to leech from. Or, make a Fodder or two portal in right in the middle of a boss fight and let us try to leech health from them while we're dodging the boss.

Blackhole, where it powers a small singularity in the device sucking in everything in its path and maybe it could charge some other item or weapon in doing so.

Or even a blackhole that expells a gravitational wave in essence a gravity gun on steroids that just blasts everything in... 50 degree radias through a freaking wall.

Blackhole would be cool, but insted I would like to to spawn a black "portal" and basically suck up the enemy(s)

Some non-lethal attacks would be good. The hunter's primarly collect life from other planets, and they would need something to net them a few victems.

Non-lethal attacks could be:
I hate to steal from Spiderman, but a silly-string type attack would be nice. Something that would slow down or tie up an enemy with a greater attack range than the Ice ray. This effect will wear off quicker based on the players strength. Effect color: Pink.

Also a pepper spray leech would be nice too. It would fire an aweful smell (Tommy will comment on how bad it is.) that scares the enemy away. In Multiprey, this would have a side effect of blurring a players vision for a few seconds. (watery eyes) Effect color: Purple.

A new lethal attack could be:
A nano-particle ray which would fire heat seeking particles that would latch on to and form a mesh that will electricute the victem. The particles could almost bend around a tight radius. This leech ammo can be fired in a pulse or a stream. Effect color: Blue

Solar beam was definitely the most powerful. I used it to take out a keeper and still had enough ammo to kill another most of the way. However, I got the most use out of the electricity due to availability.

Sunbeam totally rocks! It's great to aim it at those spider things and just let them burn!!!
The ice function was funny, I used it when possible. The red plasma is nice and effective and the lightning was quite strong but nothing special. It looks like UT lightning gun, only without the zoom.

also for ideas, I think it would be cool to have a windbeam or air beam or force beam or whatever you want to call it..
a "beam" of somesort(just plain air, or something like temporal displacement with geometric deformation view like around portals) that push ennemies very far very fast.. the beam does not kill or hurt.. only the impact against walls, floor etc..the longer you keep the beam on the subject the stronger the push..
it's not that i'm all for beams and such.. but it just that i'm really waiting for the fan-gun in dnf

Lightning ammo by far.

Ice was worthless and fire's niche was already filled by the 2nd and 5th weapons (alien assault rifles). Sunbeam was too rare to be of any real use (other than the last area with the Keepers).
