Re: Con Edit, the TC helper
Oh no, not another one of these. I'm sorry, it's nice and all, but you get better (smarter) enemies by setting afew simple rules for what they can possibly do, and then letting them act on it of their own accord. You tend to get much smarter enemies this way, that can really surprise you.
Write an FAQ on using DukeC instead of dumbing it down. The only nice feature would be the constant debugging. Though there's a program that many professional programmers (not con hackers) use called CodeWright which could be customized to accomodate DukeC. [ 06-08-2001: Message edited by: Mblackwell ]

Con Edit, the TC helper
Con Edit, the TC helper
The Mainframe is currently developing an application for use with creating your own game characters and code for Duke3d (1.3,1.4) and wants your opinion. This package will allow new users of con editing to learn all about the primitives and structures used in the game, how to construct their own useractor structures, as well as the ability to debug their source code on the fly. You can view existing source code for a multitude of actors in the game, and then get started on creating your own. Users will be able to create an actor based on point-and-click features, instant access to online help, as well as the ability to update all relevant files to include their creations in the game. This is my first major project and it is coming along well. Program will use existing defs.con, user.con, and game.con and can read all new entries the user may have entered before obtaining this program. I will offer this software for free for all Duke3D fans. I wanted to create this since I know a few friends and people that would like to edit the game, but know little about the programming practice, and this package may whet their appetite for the programming field as well. That's how I got into programmming, is fiddling around with Duke3D. Thanks 3DRealms! Would any of you use this program? What features would you need to help you create a TC? How about you old TCers? What would you like an app like this to do for you? |
