What happened to Beavis Soft?
All this talk of Wacky Wheels has made me wonder what happened to Bevis Soft. First we had Phylox, then Wacky Wheels. They did promise a platform-game maker that never appeared.

So, answers anyone?

Oops!! Replied with your message! Sorry!

Well Beavis-Soft are now FastTrack Animations. We are mainly concentrating now
on 3D animations and are starting to get some
work doing web shows.

Phylox, I didn't realise anybody still remembered that game!

Cheers

Cool, I didn't think I'd actually get a reply from Bevis Soft (FastTrack Animations).

BTW, Phylox is a cool game. Especially the first level.

Funny story about that game. Myself and my
partner basically gave up our jobs to do it. It needed about six months more time on it to get it work but we ran out of money

I never forget writing Apogee's name on a whiteboard and we were going to send it to them. Then one fateful day I bought a magazine and Wolf3D was on the front.

My partner came in and saw the look on my face. I thought why the heck would Apogee be interested in Phylox when they had something like this.

So the game ended up with a rather dubious "publisher" and it never got to see the proper light of day. What's really weird is that Tim Sweeney somehow saw the game and told us he thought that with a bit more work it could even out sell "Jill of the Jungle".

Problem is we were too involved with other stuff.

Now I think to myself what would have happened if I had sent it to Apogee.

Cheers

Apogee were still selling EGA platformers at the time. You're right, it did need a bit more work, the second level was a bit dodgy (and too hard for me to do). Yeah, the game could've done well.

I don't have a clue. I've tried searching for it, to no avail. Apart from:
Metzel Games, which are selling a shareware CD in Germany with it on.

I have phylox should anyone want it. To ancient coder : what were the other list of names released by BEAVIS soft? I seem to recall some sort of nature adventure game? I'm a collector of old games.

a quick web search
http://www.prophecybbs.org/usrfiles/...MES/PHYLOX.ZIP

I tried the game briefly just now, I remember playing it when I was younger. "They can make games like this!", is all I could think back then.

It just shows the interest in old games is still alive and well despite all the newfangled HD stuff.
