A Simple Request
First, I appreciate all the work that everyone around here has done for the game. Special thanks to Jonof.

Would it be possible to make a sticky thread or a link to a FAQ about how to get these new versions running? I go to Jonof's site and I don't know whether to download the JFDuke3d program (let alone which file out of the list) or the JFBuild program (again which file? source? binaries?). My guess is it's a combination needed. Also, which order to I install them in? After that, how would I go about installing new models/sprites?

My apologies if I'm missing a key resource somewhere that would explain all this to me. I'm just hoping something can be created to make it all a little more user-friendly (I think this will help expand the community, too!). Thanks!

Binaries are the result programs. Source is what you use to make the programs. The source is for any programmers who would like to make their own changes to the game's actual running or for someone who wants to figure out a problem and report his findings to the creator so it may be released as a fix.

It's really as simple as extracting the binaries package on top of a pre-existing Duke Nukem 3D installation and running the new Setup.exe.

The only file you really need from the original Duke to play JFDuke is BUILD.GRP. As Roger said, unless you're a programmer just download the binaries. JFBuild is only needed if you wish to edit or create maps.

Just download and install the most recent JFDuke3D binaries, copy the 1.3d or Atomic Edition group file, then install the high-res pack. Save for configuring controls, it's that simple.

I think his question was WHERE to download it from... that would be here:
http://jonof.edgenetwork.org/index.p...ownloads&cat=1
extract it to your duke3d directory, then download and install the high resolution pack...

If you want to play with the high resolution pack all you need right now is the hrp installer. It comes with all you need except the grp file which you get from your copy of duke.

Just klick the link in my sig, go to download and get the first file in the list.
