Duke Nukem Fan Wiki

Anyone interested in helping me out with one? I have one already registered and started working on it today.

The idea would be to go way more in-depth on the games and creatures then wikipedia does and maybe go so far as to add mini-guides to beating the games but that of coarse would come much later.

Anyways, I'd like a few people to help out at first to get the basic structure down before telling everyone about it.

The only thing I started working on was the DNF section since that one is going to be a little different layout wise.

EDIT: Internet went screwy with the upload so the stuff I did should be on tomorrow morning.

What about putting that on the HRP wiki or something? Consolidating the general Duke community knowledge base wouldn't hurt.

Putting what? The entire wiki on the HRP wiki? Don't think so. People don't really go to the HRP wiki to learn about say, the Playstation Duke games. It just doesn't make sense to put Duke games that have nothing to do with the HRP on the HRP wiki.

That sounds cool, if the project gets far enough I could write some for the addons. I actually started a walkthrough for Duke Caribbean a while ago but lost motivation and stopped.

The DN3D Enemies page could use some work on the info stuff preferably on the Octabrain, Sentry Drone, Assault Commander, Protector Drone, Pig Cop Tank and the Battlelord. I haven't had time to add anything there so please feel free to do it.

Also the DN3D wiki page is like only started as I stopped when moving over to the other page.

I mucked about with the "Battlelord", "Mini Battlelord" and "DN3D Enemies" pages (and reached the Pig Cop part, non-inclusive, of the latter). I wasn't sure what some parts were on about in the "(Mini) Battlelord" pages, and may have added in some completely erroneous information (such as the time limit on the Assault Captain's teleporter, something I think I heard somewhere).

It's late, so I'll have a go at the rest of the "DN3D Enemies" page tomorrow (if no one else has beaten me to it). Although I'm more of a proofreader than a writer anyway (particularly about things I'm only sketchy on, like these monsters), and there's always room for proofreaders.


EDIT: Done up to and including the Sentry Drone now. I also fixed a small typo in the DNF Weapons page - I'm pretty sure Duke doesn't use Dessert Eagles.

Is anyone still interested in this? I ask because I've been fiddling around with it recently, but I don't want to waste my time if no one's going to use it.

I'm still interested in it and check by it once in a while but lacking a bit of motivation when there's hardly anyone editing it.

I think it's because, as far as I can see, it's still bits and pieces. It needs to be straightened out properly, decide on what needs pages and what can be parts of other pages, that kind of thing. I'd be happy to join in with all that, as long as there was a plan and other people.

I stopped working on this for a while due to another wiki that at the time was supposed to be getting off the ground. Looks like it hasn't gotten any further.

I may resurrect this wiki.

I've just added a new page that may be of interest to you guys: the Theories page. Since you certainly know so much about the games, have a go at adding in some of your own speculations.

Anyway, Maruno, Ilovefoxes and I (and a few anonymous ones) have been working on and off on this wiki for the past year and it has come a long way now with 169 articles present at the moment. If anyone else wants to put some effort into it just go ahead; there's still a lot of articles that needs to be written and many stub articles present.

Hey folks! I'm resurrecting thread with a goal in my mind... a good one.

I've noticed a lot of hate going around and a lot of pissed off people due to DNF being up in the air and I got to thinking, we need something to bring us together as a community again and that's when I remembered this Wiki I started a long time ago...

I figure since we have been fans for some time we have the knowledge and the resources to make one of the best gaming related wiki's out there! Why not try!? Why not get together and use our passion for Duke in a more worthwhile way!? We spend a lot of our time here anyways talking about the game!

I really want to try and get this going to bring our little community back together. If I can get just a few of you who say their at least interested in pushing this thing forward I'll create a steam group so we can pool our resources together, maybe we'll even have fun.

So what do you say?

I'm trying to find ways to combat that which is where the steam community came from, I'm thinking if we had a way to interact with each other while we work we may be able to help motivate each other.

Nacho, if you want some graphics done I'm up for the job. I mostly work with PSD, TGA and TIFF, but JPEG and GIF shouldn't be a problem either.

I think a wikia is a good initiative. It may not be the best way to get people together, but it is something we can do while waiting for any impending news regarding Duke Nukem Forever.

One thing though, isn't it possible to have the wikia on this page instead of on a separate address?

If by that you mean have the wiki here at 3DR that won't happen. This is something that isn't officially affiliated with 3DR that I'm just doing in an effort to bring the community together. Really I'll take any suggestions on that regard.

You don't have to sign in with facebook... it's an odd option I've never played with.

The end goal would be to have a robust plethora of knowledge on all there is Duke. From detailed info on guns, levels, enemies, secrets, hell, I'd love some stuff on cut content too...

If there is a particular subject about Duke you know than go at it! If I get five people who will commit some time for a bit I'll make the steam group to get started and hopefully others will join in.

Hmm, seeing as I've got quite a few Duke games I could supply you with a lot of photographs of them. I keep detailed information about each item in my collection as well as detailed photographs, I could just assemble a package containing photos of each of my Duke releases.

I was hoping to get your attention. Yeah that would be great. This kind of stuff is what I'm after as well... basically if it's Duke related I want it all documented as the end goal, think of the wiki as a virtual Duke museum.

I've got a question for you Iggy, does that Total Meltdown strategy guide cover the new episode in that release? I've always wondered that...

Also, I'm after a good free .gif editing tool for making animated images, anyone know any?
