Customizable Button Configuration
I am a big duke fan and used to play duke o heat an kali years ago. Thats why I cant wait for duke to be released to play those deathmatches for hours and hours. Even though most dukers use mouse and keys, I always sticked to my gamepad. My question now is, if duke will have a customizable button configuration. On the PC version it was possible to customize each gamepad button with two functions. For example the fire button could also have the medikit assigned. Will this also be possible on the 360 gamepad or will for example all the inventory be assigned on the directional thing. I gotta know so I can already make plans how to set up my button configuration What about adjusting the x and y axis movement (turning and moving forward/backwards)? Will that also be customizable? Also will it be possible to use a mouse and keyboard (I assume yes, but gotta know if I will be facing some mousers who always had an advantage due to the abiltity of faster movement).

Yes. You can reconfigure everything.

X/Y - That's a stock function. Go into the profile area on your 360. There's an option there called "Game Defaults". If you want to pass certification, you have to respect the settings in here. So yes.

No mouse and keyboard. That's a Microsoft thing. I don't think the console even recognizes mice, and keyboards are only available during text input screens.

Here's a screenshot of the default controller config on the 360 game.

Hey Joe,
Thanks for the fast answer! As far as I know there is an adapter that lets you hook up your mouse and keyboard to your 360 and as far as I remember the seller stated that you can use both to play games with.

Its so great to hear that all the buttons will be fully customizable, but one question you havent answered...will it be possible to put 2 functions on one button. For example fire on the A button, but when you double click it you use the medikit. Do you know?

No, you can't double assign buttons.

I hate being unable to customize the controls. The default and other settings are awkward sometimes.

Can you set the analog stick (pushing it down) to do things as well?

I like to crouch with the left stick

Any button on the controller can be used for any of the functions in that shot.

I use pushing on the analog stick as well. My custom config (which I take a lot of grief for at 3DR for having a non standard config) is..

Jump - Y
Use - A
Crouch - Push left stick
Run - Dpad Up
Scoreboard - X

That's pretty close to how I would lay it out. Good to know

edit: actually, after looking it over that's exactly how I'll have mine set

When you state "Run - Dpad Up". Is that turn auto run on\off? Or do I have to actually hold down "Up" on the dpad to run?

I'll have to get this setup like Halo 3 so I don't confuse myself
