Stargate Mod
As the title says. Been in production for a few months now. A few of you allready know about it.

WTF is up with your comments on "counterstrike source hands and guns"?
The P90 is in Stargate (if you have seen the show, you would realize this). They are a special unit in the US Air Force, of course they are going to have real guns that are used in the US Armed Forces.

Looks nice. When you asked about def code and I saw the "stargate" folder, I wanted to ask where that mod was. Now I know.

WTF is up with almost everyone asuming that the guns are CS:S ones? Like Mr Fibbles said, They use these in SG and they have gloves on.

I'm pretty sure he means "why are you using the CS:S P90 model" and not why are you using the actual P90.

First shot is mediocre at best, the other 2 shots are just empty areas with some models in them. It's gonna take more than that.

I highly doubt that EDuke32 can properly handle the amount of polygons in CS:S models. It would also be rather stupid to try to port them since they are different in most every way from MD3. It would be easier to make your own from scratch. . .
I'll admit that the scenes are empty, but the idea that there will be a Stargate mod is nice. Just assume that it is in the early stages of development.
I like the show and I have been waiting for something new to keep me entertained while I wait. . .

I had been having private convo's and we were betting if it would be you or Geoff who would say that first. And what exactly is ment to be in a shot these days? If there wasnt models or sectors or anything you just named basicly it would be black. If your expecting a game/mod like DNF, Doom ect your in the wrong thread dude. I wont be wasting time on trying to get the shading detail of maps down to the bare militmeter when your going to have Replicators trying to crawl up your ass. Wheres your mod by the way?

Hellbound was referring to the muzzleflashes in your movie. You didn't change the muzzleflash positioning from where it is in the Duke Plus code that you're using for the gun.

Oh yes that, My bad. I dont really want to edit any of your duke plus base code till last incase you decide to release another version and then I would have to re-edit it again.

Let's not be a dramaqueen, okay? All you've got in your shot are empty rooms with some sprites in them. Where's the shading and detail?

I'm not asking for DNF-like things here dude. You're a mapper, you should know what I mean.

I wont be spending a ton of time detailing maps with a ton of shading. Only expect the basics here. This is going more for the action.

This seems to be the problem with many Build nublets - As soon as you mention that it needs more detail and shading, they think they have to make it like Bob Averill's maps. Not at all.

My maps are doing just fine btw.





Still needs some work, though :/

Yes the maps will have shading ect. But I wont be going in to masive detail.

Oh, So you do map then? Theres some sort of glitch in the 2nd shot on the bottom right corner. what is that?

Woah! Thanks for bringing that to my attention, hadn't even noticed that. Will look into it, though I wouldn't be surprised if it were a visual bug due to the whole Polymost thing.

No offence Sang but those pics you posted of your map aren't anything to write home about either and also have very little shading or anything going on...

I know that my shots are basic as well, but even if I say so myself I'd still say they look better than The Commander's shots.

But that's exactly my point - The Commander can make his mod look better by having a little more detail and shading.

Oh I agree a little shading and a little detail can go a long way.... its not necessary to go all out putting in as much detail as possible.

I dunno, It kinda looks a little like a map/sector glitch. Hope it isnt cos they suck. Ive allready had to deal with one.

I was going to say that but I didnt want to start a flame war, Please keep this on topic... I dont want it derailed.

Most of them shots are allready outdated. You must rember it has WIP posted on them,

The Mod will start with the Replicators attacking the SGC. (What again? Who let them in this time! I thought they were destroyed?) thats a surprise waiting to be discoverd.

Other than using Duke Plus as a base and ive had a little help from someone I wont name yet to convert me a couple models, yeah Ive done all this so far on my own...

No actually you are since Sang doesn't get all shitty when people criticise his work unlike your rant which I guess you already had lined up your head, waiting for either of them to post.

His criticism is just and Highwire back at AMC also made the same criticism so it's not just him blowing steam. Don't respond to his postname but what he said in his post.

Yeah I did have it lined up in my head. But wasnt expecting him to come to 3DR to say it. Besides we have allready goten over it and I have allready pointed out a problem in his map but yet you are deciding to carry thing flame bait on.

I believe the main criticism that some people might have towards this mod has already been stated, now it's up to The Commander to do with it what he will. Whether he will actually improve upon his mod or make up a ton of excuses is up to him.

Gonna have to agree with Jblade on this one Commander. Dont get me wrong though theres a lot of promise here, just gotta find your point of source light outside and add in some nice shading. It could go a long way.

EDIT: Futhermore, after looking at those models in action its starting to get really clear to me that some folks around here seem to loves them some CS weaponary. Same can be said for several other mods around here, wont knock ya for that though as this has been a tradition of Duke mods for years and years. What works, works.

Im just totaly ignoring James and Sang now cos they wont drop it,

I just guess people cant read on the pic's that they say, W.I.P. (Stands for WORK IN PROGRESS, Dont like it dont post in this thread)

Any way Commando Nukem, They use these weapons in Stargate... I cant exactly go using weapons they dont or it wont have that Stargate feel to it. And im sure they didnt have Staff weapons in CS...

They do bring a point worth considering to the table is all. You've got alot of good models, its just the need for shading is very important (With the detail here, you've got a great base, you just need a little bit more in the way of mood. )

I doubt anyone is riding you intentionally. Just pointing out where we think improvements can be applied, and the particular areas thereof.

You're missing me by a mile. The mesh for the glock and the P90 look exactly like user created CS weapon skins, including the hands. Right down to the edges on some bits. I know they use the weapons in the series, thats not what anyone here was talking about. We're talking the mesh itself here. Just seems to be a common practice around here.

On another note, the Gate, staff, and the Death Glider look really good.

I never said that I wasnt coming to shade the map. I allways leaving shading ect till last. And im not talking about them any more in this thread.

They are plenty more nice models coming. I havent even made my way to space yet (Daedalus ect)

This will hopefully be a marvill and not a washout. heh

I just cant come up with a decent title name, Stargate Mod sounds to plain...
