Thank you Human Head!!!
I just finished Prey...

At first I was sceptical about this game. I took a wait and see attitude.
But I have to take my hat off now...

It's one of the best games I ever played. It is totally amazing.
The game wasn't too short. For every minute of the 8,5 hours it took
me, I was thrilled, entertained and curious of what next. In comparsion it
took me a bit longer to finish HL2, but the final 3-4 hours was a rush through the game as I was already bored to death. What I mean is, Prey brought so much innovation, FPS feels fresh again. The story was great, finally a story in a FPS!

Level design in Prey is KING! In fact it is the games strongest side. Every single map is unique and has millions of things to "wow" about. Thanks Human Head. You are the best.

The only thing I could wish for are some more maps with open space and on earth. I give it a 9,9 out of 10. I am absolutely confident Prey is a milestone in FPS gaming. From now on it's the pre-Prey and post-Prey era.

Can't wait for the sequel.

PS. Of course thank you 3DR for making this wonderful game possible.

Cheers.

Prey takes everything that I liked about games like Doom 3 and FEAR and condensned it into a smaller, more coherent package. The aforementionend games were great, but there were definitely times about 3/4 of the way through where I was just like "when will this game end?!?!" I can't remember many recent games that had me consistently interested. from beginning to end.

I wouldn't quite give it a 9.9, but easily a strong 9/10.

Simply put, I had fun the entire game.

Can't agree on that. For me both Doom3 and FEAR were just so great, that I started from the beginning again, once I had finished them. Couldn't get enough.

I feel the same way with prey, Fear had a great story but i couldnt replay it. I wasnt that wowed by the 2 min fire fights to the 8 min dark rooms with no enemies, i loved the firefights but i just wish that there were more, like prey. In prey i felt such an emotion with the game especially after you get back from the spirit world the third time and every time you kill an enemie he says DIE DIE DIE. That is what im looking for in a game, replayablity in sp, Fear had outstanding mp(which i played along time after sp) so does prey but prey really shines in sp.

see, to me thats just boring. Fear was just ridiculous on how many enemies you ended up killing. I mean, come one there has to be more than just kill kill kill. Obviously there isn't going to be enemies in EVERY little corridor.

Fear was a cool game in terms of "playability". It was really nice to shoot things up, and see the fog of destruction after a battle. But IMO it was repetitive. The story F.E.A.R. had is quite overused. The little creepy girl was already annoying at the time. And the "finale" was broke because of the fact your character had no personality at all. It was still a cool game, but that's not quite the thing I'm looking for. The era of the "enter room - shoot everything - repeat" FPS is over since the 90'. At least for me.

Prey offered inovation and entertainment from the beggining to the end.
And what Valve is doing with their portal game, IMO is really being overrated, and I'm betting they won't get far with that...
And that's because they're turning a feature into a game, while Prey is a game that has this feature. I guess if you include Portals into your game you will succeed if you make it right - like HH did. But making a game out of Portals won't last long. That's just taking a shortcut that leads to nowhere.

Portal's err ... portals have immense gameplay potential. Crazy puzzles, sweet moments that you can control (much like the gravity gun, your imagination is the limit). For example, imagining opening a portal right in front of you on the floor. Then placing another portal directly above enemies and then raining death from the portal. Or teleporting grenades right on top of the enemy. It's a great idea simply because you control how much or how little you want to use the portal gun.

Anyways, Portal is just a tech-demo/proof-of-concept for the most part. Actual use of the gun won't come until later on in another iteration.

FEAR's combat was just heart-pounding. Every battle was intense. It goes to show that you don't need a great story or even good level design as long as you hold true to the basic tenet of FPS games, visceral, brutal combat.

Hmm, i sent a mail to Tim Gerritsen's e-mail (had it stored in my mail inbox from earlyer use)
It was a "thanks for developing Prey" mail, directed to everyone at Humanhead Studios... But they never responded...

I hope they read it, because i think a personal "thank you" is better than a public announcement of many fans saying "thank you"...

100% agreeance. Especially the point about Portal being a tech-demo. I bet Valve'll announce that it'll be shortish - or probably something like MGS: Special Missions was, and people are setting themselves up for disapointment. Valve did say it'll be a proof-of-concept to show off their new gun in Episode II.

Strangely enough, it took me to my third play through the game until I enjoyed the combat. First time was purely for the story, which I thought was awesome (though you pretty much had to peice it together yourself), second on Easy for nothing but the awesome melee, third time on hard where I finally got what they tried to do with the firefights, and finally really loved it.

Yeah, it's just that I couldn't find any mail contact for Human Head. Not that I tried extremely hard, but since crticizm is usually LOUD, why compliments shouldn't?

BTW, The only rating I understand is the IGN rating. Did GS even played that game? What does that mean?? They were not paid this time to rate higher, is that it? I mean, that's ridiculously too low.
