WinRott troubles
I'm using the WinRott_Shareware_v2.24.zip since I don't have the full game. Everytime I restore a saved game I have a problem. When it loads, I can't move at all, only thing I can do is fire my weapon. Could someone assist me in solving this problem?
Thank you. |

Re: WinRott troubles
Try to delete all of *.rot files on your WinROTT dir. And restart game to re-make default setting, itself by WinROTT program.
When using a new version of WinROTT or WinROTTGL, you must delete all of *.rot files, else you may get some shity problems like yours.

Re: WinRott troubles
*ALWAYS* delete your *.rot files whenever you install a new version of
either winrott or winrottgl, if you don't the game will behave unpredictably.. |

Re: WinRott troubles
This is the first report of a save game problem in ages with winrott, try
re-installing the game to a fresh directory with nothing else in it, the last time this problem was worked on, I think it was due to a 'endian' problem, (which bit is considered most or least significant in a byte), see if doing that helps. If the problem still occurs I'll look into it... |

Re: WinRott troubles
You didn't specify what your operating system is, but I have a custom
version of 2.24 shareware designed for windows 98, it also runs on xp pro, I just tried the saving & loading of a game and it worked fine, if you want to try this version out, let me know and I'll put it up on putfile and send you the download link... |

Re: WinRott troubles
WinRott was working ok at first, but after you play it for a while, then the
save game problem occurs? At the moment, I'm not sure what would cause that problem, usually these kind of problems are 'instant'. This suggests a corrupted file somewhere, personally I've never had this problem, I'll talk with birger about this and get his insight... |

Re: WinRott troubles
This type of thing is why I play the original game(s) on my 486 (or DOSBox) instead of bothering with ports. It's a great effort guys, writing a program like WinRott, and I really don't mean to offend you or your work, but I personally prefer to keep with the originals.

Re: WinRott troubles
That's fine, it's up to you as to what version of rott you want to play,
porting *any* old game from dos to windows (xp) is not easy, you have to figure out how to get 'dos only' stuff to work even half right under a OS that doesn't have any native support for the original code, when your doing stuff like that, there is bound to be a few problems along the way... |

Re: WinRott troubles
Try disabling the basemarker option..., that at least was the problem for me with savegames
