Duke Nukem 3D: High resolution pack released
Killd a ton already posted about this in the complete pack for christmus thread but I though it should have its own thread.

http://cubed.dk/nobody/dnstuff/dn3d_hrp.exe

This includes

* Latest version of the jfduke3d port
* All hightile textures released so far (both 1.3d and atomic)
* All models released so far (both 1.3d and atomic)
* maphacks for both 1.3d and atomic
* hacked game.con file for both 1.3d and atomic
* Easy to use installer

Enjoy!

ooh, if you have an old system(<pIII) and have trouble playing with the textures a lower quality and faster pack is in the works. It will contain the same content only with textures at half the resolution. Should be done with in a few days, hopefully.

Tho we did our best to include every thing (except for some tiles that would be better of as models) theres no doubt that we also missed something and some one.
So if you have a texture/model that is missing or you are missing from the credit list, pleas post it here so that it will be in the next pack.
(Only things older then the pack of cause the new stuff we will pick up our self.)

Ow! and mirror mirror mirror people

Good job I love the organiztion. Also its the first time I have seen the models which look great. I am guessing that some of the switches that got left out are what you consider model fodder. Very good though. I aplaud your efforts.

But...
3386 and 3387 are wrong/missing (why does everyone lose my marbles?).
Get them at www.prism.gatech.edu/~gtg024s/regaw.zip

Also, this 'O' looks more like the original, I think it helps the font a lot.

Also...

At least on my system, the turret is invisible.

Also the red version of 568 has artifacts. I have cleaned them up.

Ceiling mounted turrets are a bit problematic. and is drawn a bit to high. This can't be helped at the moment but we descided to leave them in anyway.

Hey Parkar & Killd a ton, a huge THANK YOU goes to both of you guys!! I can`t believe, my name is in there too!! This is great for beginning with optimizing, polishing and finalizing IT! Next week, I will take time to refine some of my earlier textures, such as that blowfish sushi thing, which embarrasses me, esp. when I look at it now. IMO, there are also a couple of better looking models (the steroids & the health bottle), which I will re-post as soon, as I can.

Yes the pack will be kept up to date with regular re-editions, i guess the next one will be when the next version of jfduke is out, and then again when around 256 tiles and 2 enemy's has been mad or something in the same value.

As always, this is a well deserved pack. It cleans up the whole mess that was previously in the past of High Res and models for Duke 3d. Now it's all gone, and to crown it. I even made a new folder, put both Final Duke II and this new one along side each other. Like brothers, older and younger. Named 'The Nuke'.

As well, I also created a Music folder, where I put all of the Duke3d Re-mix songs that Mark McWane made. Where it shall wait there until JonoF gives .OGG support. Then I shall link from the Duke3d.def into the Sound folder.

Man guys, talk about organized. Thanks.

(.. did I go offtopic by any chance, or did I advertise myself too much? Oh, and not to have it sound messy, I also had to rename 'highres' into 'Real 3d')

Oh, and IF by chance JonoF gets it working, let me make the defs. The command should be 'definesong' if the .OGG support is done, ok? Thanks.

Excellent! I've been waiting for this.. now I can get stuck into some mapping specially for jfDuke3D.

When you do release new updates to this can you have two seperate ones? Like a new one with ALL the current textures.. and then another one with just an update pack for those who download this one.

That way people won't have to download it all again when you release new files.

Ok. Downloading now.

The size of the pack makes me wonder if this isn't taking too much bandwidth for whoever is hosting it. I can create a mirror if you want to. PM me if you think this is a good idea.

Uh, no, replacing sound will not use .def files. Duke specific stuff doesn't belong in the engine (which is where the def reader is), not to mention that user.con already facilitates changing of sound files.

Thank you Parkar and Killd a ton for this wonderful pack. Testing the latest models and textures on my new Mobility Radeon 9000 makes it look wonderful.

One problem, though - I notice that the pack has the oversized 502 texture, which cause slowdown after viewing a security monitor in episodes 1 or 3. Included a resized version - I can't seem to insert it in the duke3d_hrp.zip file without breaking all the high-res add-ons.

Model weapons.... These were lurking in one of the older packs. The chaingun really needs work! The Devastor is definetly promising.

First of all, thanks a shitload for the complete package and installer. I have one quick question, though. I took a peek at the files in the hacks.zip file, and two of them are files with txt extensions, where all the others are mhk extension. Does this matter?

Maybe you could put "version number" to that .exe? So would easier to check if it has been updated?

Like first version dn3d_hrp1.0.0.exe and if some minor updates comes that change to dn3d_hrp1.0.1.exe etc..

Just my idea..

The pack is using date instead of version, but giving the file the date might be a idea, this one is 25 jan 05 (check support info in add/remove programs) and we will see about adding it for the next version.
I'll probably also add a warning if you try to install a old on top of a new.
