Patch killed my Prey
Since I installed the patch, I can no longer run Prey.
I click on it, the program prey.exe shows in task manager. The screen goes black (like it's starting the game), but then everything crashes back to the desktop, with no error. At that point, task manager no longer shows prey.exe.

I tried uninstalling the program, but got an error. I reinstalled, then uninstalled successfully.
I then reinstalled twice using the CD and still nothing. (On two different hard drives)

So I installed using STEAM and still, black screen then crashes.

HELP!

Did you perhaps change your graphics card drivers since you last played prey?

thats sounds a lot like a directx error... try reparing your directx 9.0C or vista x10

if uninstall/reinstall without the patch does not work, then you do not have a patch problem, you have some other sort of issue.

Same here. After patching it crashes at start with message that my video card (GeForce GT 6800) can not handle it.

How can it be a DirectX error? Prey doesn't use DirectX.

Well DirectX is not just for graphics

Prey could still be using DirectX for mouse & keyboard input, or sound..

So it could still very well be a DirectX problem..

Something seems to be going wrong with the forum code too.
