Hey, the other day I was looking at some of my old Duke Nukem figures and decided to convert them into 3D.

Re: 3D Pig Cop
That looks awesome
Would you mind having this piece of art on Duke4.net's fanart section..? (i am still looking for enough new artwork for the next fanart update) If you plan on doing any more models, i'd love to see an Octabrain...

Re: 3D Pig Cop
Thanks for the comments people Steve, dutchjelle and Micki! And sure it would be fine to display on the Duke4 fanart section; also the Octabrain is the one i'm working on next- modelling Duke still though..
But I do hope to get them all modelled before the end of the week |

Re: 3D Pig Cop
That looks amazing!
Say, is there any chance of them being converted to game models? As a sort of alternative hi-res pack?

@chasm
Do you have bigger images of that model..? perhaps also a full body view..? I'll put this in my "next batch of fanart" folder...

Re: 3D Pig Cop
I have Max's Character Studio skeletons applied so they are pretty much game ready save some skeletal conversions. I'd love to make some form of mod for DNF like Duke Nukem Forever: Action Figure Invasion :P

Re: 3D Pig Cop
Ah Micki, i'll work on a full body view soon- just have to finish some minor details off (the reason why i've got dense shadowing atm)

Re: 3D Pig Cop
I see...
Would you prefer a more complete version being showed at Duke4.net, or would this one along with newer versions be fine..?

Re: 3D Pig Cop
Thanks for the comments again people I probably will eventually do some sort of low poly versions of them, but i'm thinking these would be alot better off in a DNF mod.

Looks good!
Could you show us a wire and texture and bumped/unbumped normaled/unnormaled version? |

Re: 3D Pig Cop
Please don't take this the wrong way or get offended....but what makes you think that the pigcops in DNF won't look WAY better than yours already? Having said this i think this could be a good addittion to the HRP

Re: 3D Pig Cop
Hey DavoX, i'm wanting to make a DNF action figure mod where the models look like action figures opposed to replacing game assets to be more realistic- but I know 3DR will release nothing less than perfect for theirs
Kristian, the polygon count of the front bracket of the pig is 102649- the reason i've got it so high at the moment is for detailing in zBrush. A little scene I just rendered in max now, Duke still hasn't been detailed properly yet though |

Re: 3D Pig Cop
The tail near the leg has kinda messed up with the radiosity applied and the tusks have meshed with the upper part of the mouth- fixing 'em now.

Re: 3D Pig Cop
that almost looks more like claymation than a 3D app. Looks very cool though.
EDIT - Ahhh, Zbrush!

Re: 3D Pig Cop
Thanks for the comments! Yeah, they are modelled in max then pulled into zBrush for the kinks But I haven't made any screens of the zBrush kinks yet :P 150k polygons now for each model! Gonna have to normal their 3d gons down!

Re: 3D Pig Cop
Man, chasm, that's totally badass! Has to be the best fan-made Duke related art asset I've ever seen......no, wait; since we haven't seen DNF yet, that would make it the best Duke art I've ever seen, period!
That lighting on the first shot is incredible. You'd be crazy not to apply at 3D Realms; I'm sure you'd make a great addition to the team. Have you done so yet, or has this idea even crossed your mind? And do you have a site that showcases your work? I'd like to see more! Did you make any other Duke-related content? I think the DNF mod sounds like a great idea, but I think it would be a better choice to release the low poly models now so we have something to play with in the meantime. After all, DNF is still a long way off...... If you do make versions of these characters with a lower polygon count, I'd really like to play around with them in UT 2004, if possible, as I'm working on making some Dukish scenarios in the level editor. Thanks so much for sharing this with us. |
