Same Prey or New Prey?
I looked but missed any answer if there was one. Was this the same Prey that was said to have been cancelled, but was actually just passed along to some other people to finish it?

Or did a new company just start making a new game on their own of the same theme?

Human Head Studios bought the rights to the name and idea of the game and started developing it on the Doom 3 engine, basically.

Does Human Head own the IP now too? I thought 3DRealms sort of "out sourced" the project to Human Head. Do they have a co-ownership of it like Remedy and 3DRealms for Max Payne? I don't really know so any and all info would be much appreciated.

I personally like the idea, that Human Head is working on it. Rune was a blast, I hope they can port their talents to Prey aswell.

Another interesting question would if the story is still based on Tom Hall's idea or if it's a completly new one.

I don't think if HH bought the rights to the Prey IP that we'd be discussing it on a 3DR forum.

I'd guess it's akin to the Remedy/3DR relationship for Max Payne, as you say. CR from HH is, afterall, listed as a moderator in this forum

Tom Halls idea was already scraped back then in favor of Paul Schuytema's story. I think they had some element(s) in common though.

I don't know about 3D Realms's relationship with Human Head, but 3D Realms and Remedy co-owned the Max Payne franchise. For that to be the case here, Human Head would have to buy part of the franchise/IP.

Be patient, the answers are coming.

Now let's speculate.

I don't think the environment will be a destructive as shown in de 98 video. It's based on the Doom engine (right?), and I don't think they've altered much. I do hope they'll make more use of the physics engine and the graphics are better, as in not as dark. Total destructive environment can be a killer for story and gameplay.

Whoever 3DRealms worked with, games 3DRealms has been involved with have shown to be inventive and extremely entertaining. So I'm kind of thinking/hoping Prey will kick Doom's ass when it comes to showing and using the possibilies of the Doom 3 engine.

As a last point I hope the Portal Technology isn't gone because they used another engine. Portals are cool and I believe if they are part of the gameplay you have a game that can seperate itself from all the standard shooters.

Same Prey or new Prey? My guess is completely new Prey. Maybe the base story line is the same, but my guess is they started over. Looking at the ancient stuff that was already there is only wasting time. You have to redesign everything anyway.

I believe at least some of the Portal Tech has made its way into the "New" Prey. George already stated on another forum that the Portal Tech can be implemented into the Doom III engine. I'm not overhyping it, i'm just very, very interested to see what they have come up with. I can't wait for June's PC Gamer

This is creepy.

I looked around for my Duke CD like two weeks ago to check for the screenshots of Prey (was planing on recreating the places with Build for fun). And now this?
x99, x42

I never found my cd tho (, hate it when you put different cds temporarily in the wrong case and then forget about wich one holds what cd :/) good thing this (Thanks Ronald) site was up now so I can finally see them ;o)
Does anyone have a copy of that .txt (or something) that where on the cd? If I recall corectly, it had some words about the story back then, could be interesting to read
