Here's a thread to collect thoughts on your ideas for weapons for DNF. Part 1 can still be read there. It was closed due to thread size. No other reason.

I think Duke's gold 1911 is badass. The .50AE Desert Eagle isn't practical for combat because of the recoil it produces. a .45 1911 is ideally suited for combat, and is probably the most reliable handgun ever made. THUMBS UP DUKE!

Other than that, give me an RPG, Devastators, the Freezethrower, an Assault Rifle, Shrinker, Pipebombs, and the DN3D shotty. Oh, and throw in some surprises we aren't expecting. A portable Nuke would be nice.

Well, Duke wants firepower, so the Desert Eagle is the best way to deliver it. Also, who cares about recoil wehn you have arms as big as treechuncks and can lift over 200 kg of weight with it?

I wont mind seeing all the old weapons return, still I would love to see some new weapons that we didnt saw in DN3D yet. It could be also more then 10 weapons for me. I posted some intresting weapons in the first thread, like futuristic assault rifels, greandelauncher, plasma and laser weapons etc.

A flamethrower would be cool, just to roast mass enemies.

Yeah, but I also pointed out that the 1911 is the most reliable handgun ever made. So if Duke drops it in mud, gets pigcop dips in it or (knowing him) dips it in astroglide, it'll still work.

Also, he apparently DOESN'T have his Golden Desert Eagle. He has a Gold plated 1911, which is why I'm bringing this up.

Small guns; Pistol, Assault Rifle, Shotty.
Those should be the basic guns we all love in any FPS.

Big guns (I like big guns); Devastator, Shrinker/Expander, Freezethrower, Dark Hole.

Basic fps guns:
Pistol, shotgun, auto rifle, rocket launcher, hand grenade, flamethrower, sniper rifle, eventually grenade launcher.

What about if duke could get some special gun at area 51 that melts people/aliens. You would only be able to have that gun for a "level" or two. When duke uses it on pig cops he says "mmm i love the smell of bacon in the morning" (if it is early morning that he is at area 51.)

Or maybe it could be mounted on something in a test room at area 51 and duke is able to use to melt some pig cops and says "mm i love the smell of bacon in the morning"

Damn, i hope there is a area 51 in dnf.

Actually it seems like DNF is being developed in Area51.

Evolved from an earlier suggestion, I want a weapon that can accept most anything as 'makeshift ammunition.' Found some re-bar? stick it into the processing hopper and shoot shredded hunks of metal at your foe. Got the branch of a tree? Give your enemy some high velocity splinters. Surrounded by broken bodies? Sever a limb and use some bone flechettes to make even MORE ammo.

The thing with a Desert Eagle as a default is that it's an insanely powerful gun, the weakest version is a .357 magnum! You can even get in .50 cal. I suppose it doesn't really matter because it looks cool but the gun realist guys will go nuts from pumping 11 shots into someone to take them down with a gun that's probably at least as deadly as a small automatic rifle.

I don't know if this idea has been brought up before, but here it goes.

Singularity Gun (aka a black hole)

This could be gone about a couple of different ways. One is a special type of ammo for maybe Duke's deagle or a new gun altogether.

Either way, from the gun a little black ball would be shot out towards the enemy and when it would impact, the enemy would be sucked in than the ball would collapse in on itself and disappear. It may not sound that exciting but with different effects such as distortion and bullet time (slow mo), seeing this pig cop being stretched out and ripped apart as it is being sucked in, would be pretty cool.

As an alt. fire to the gun or ammo, you could have the same beginning but instead of taking out a particular enemy, the little black ball would shoot out a certain distance and expand to a wide range destroying anything caught by the expanse of the ball. With that, let's say a pig cop was caught only halfway in the expanded ball, when the ball would go to collapse and disappear, only half the pig cop would remain and just collapse to the ground.
The alt. fire would be suited for taking out hordes of aliens.

Any thoughts on this?

Sorry if someone already came up with this idea.

It would be damn cool to have a semi automatic .700 nitro custom made Duke nukem weapon with a big clip.

and not a rifle type, but more like a shotgun style - duke could shoot it without aiming at all. it could eaven lack a crosshair.

Remember Redneck Rampage? There was a kind of enemy, the Alien Hulks, who were big nasty aliens who could take a lot of point-blank shotguns shots. They fired plasma shots and some bombs, too. Also, if you didn't blow up their bodies, they get back up. I had some terrible battles with these monsters. I remember that if you killed one of those, you got their Plasma Rifle. And by "you got their plasma rifle" I mean you welded their arm grafted to the rifle. Messy affair, it was. But it was awesome.

The Labotomizer. When fired upon an enemy mutates them into zombies. The zombies then move slowly through the level helping eliminate other baddies, by eating them and each other.

The Glue gun. Really just a converted paintball rifle, Duke picks this up when inside of munitions factories and the like as any explosion results in the building blowing up, along with ol Duke. Duke collects cans of pig glue, loads up.

When fired at the enemy they're stopped dead in their tracks.. for 1 minute and can't fire back because their weapons are full of glue.

Duke needs to take care where he walks.

If there is a multiplayer with an option to call for artillery support i would like to see something cool like

or a tactical artillery - an artillery strike with flashbang ammunation or smokebombs. Heck why not eaven one napalm shot from the Dora

Or why not a minigun artillery an artillery with rotating barrels and a high rate of fire but smaller caliber.

or... a very special ammunation - artillery shell with super radioactive nuclear waste in it


oh and why not allowe Duke to find the Dora in the singleplayer and go medieval on the alien arses with it

erm... so?

So is a shotgun, a boot etc. if it was only about modern warfare there would only be snipers, long range missiles etc. (ps. this is a game we are talking about)

Atleast it is kickass... and big.

Doesn't fit DNF in anyway, that's my opinion. It serves no purpose what-so-ever. There are better alternatives if you would wan't artillery, but I doubt DNF would be a game to include them. Boot, Shotgun, both usefull in DNF. Duke Nukem isn't a guy that orders artillery.

A very similar weapon existed in "Unreal 2: The Awakening", sorry I can't remember its name; but you get it in the last level of that game and it has 666 of ammo. The fire mode is similar to the alt. fire that you describe.
If you are careless firing it, it sucks you too in the black hole .

I really don't care how much weapons DUKE has in the game, but he needs to have his golden Desert Eagle. If he has two, better . All this years I remembered him because of the golden Desert Eagles (appart of the babes and his cool quotes).

Also, I think that having too much weapons doesn't always help (remember Turok 2? It had ~20 or more weapons, most of them USELESS).

I rather prefer a small set of well-chosen-UPGRADABLE-weapons with different types of ammo for them.

erm... we do not know if it is so that in multiplayer we can only play as duke vs. duke vs. duke (do we eaven know if there is a multiplayer?)

but in singleplayer it would be damn cool to find the Dora hidden in some place like a big big barn on the desert and then you would have to load it manually and shoot down an alien ship or a very big boss - with a direct hit.

Installed agin tested again, hm seems like it does. It was more the dual core I was thinking about, but just turning of one of them for the game makes it all work fine. :S Strange, U'm sure I must have tried it last time. But now I can play it again. Ah something good about the game is that the FX is pretty. The fire effects. The weapons are very nice too. But feels too strange that the shotgun pellets can be flaming just like that. :/ Gosh the flamethrower is so nice. It's a bit weird though that all the weapon are so chubby bulky and looks incredibly heavy. :/

There needs to be a Double Barrel Shotgun that is the most powerful gun in the game it needs to blow holes right through the aliens asses.

I'm not impressed by 2 barrel shotguns. They are just in most FPS.
But a 3 (yeah! Three) Barrel Shotgun is the way to blow things up!

What does a shotgun do compared to a rocket?

I'm sick of that shotguns in games are so unpropotionally powerful. And that they have such spread like they were all sawed-off.

Radom question: Isn't a heavy machinegunus more powerful than a shotgunus?

I have fired (used for hunting) a Triple Barrel Shotgun in Real Life , it has 3 triggers, and the third trigger you can't use separately.
So, it is like a 2-in-1 shotgun:
- fire the 2 barrels together, and then 1 single shot.
- fire the 2 barrels independently.

You are right! They always get the wrong spread ratio for shotguns.

Nevertheless, I think shotguns ROCK! And I haven't seen any good ones since Serious Sam 1, 2. And the worst shotgun is that one from DOOM 3 (it sounds like when you kick a big half-full carton box ).

Just thought, that would be cool if they innovate a little bit and have a 3 or 4 barrel shotgun instead of the old ones.
