EDF trademarkt with DNF and 3Drealms?

IS EDF or earths defence force trademarkted together with Duke Nukem Forever? Because Red faction 3 has developped a story with an faction called EDF as in earths defence force in a central role.

I know it probably isn't trademarkted, but isn't there some honoury code left in the game buissiness? one that says not to steal others ideas??

The EDF in Duke Nukem forever is known since 2001, why did those bastards from volition (red faction 3) steal it? Lame big budget bastards

^ I kinda doubt it, for me it sounds too generic to be copyrighted, I could be wrong though. However it's a fact EDF will appear in DNF...

The EDF was in Duke3D too... But it was in anime well before that.

Nobody owns EDF.

3D Realms wasnt the first to use EDF in something. EDF has been around.

At this point, I don't really care. Years ago it was revealed that the next Duke game would take place in the highly dynamic environment of Las Vegas, and since then, no one else has dared capitalize on that concept...

hahaha, seriously im worried, better and better games are coming out lately. crysis with great graphics, alone in the dark 5 with a lot of interactivity, gears of war with gigantic bosses, gta 4 with an extensive internet system, etc...how is dnf going to live up to that? i say release dnf as just another dnf game, stop wanting the best game ever because its not going to happen!

I can't believe Volition would steal EDF from DNF. I mean, it's not like 3DR would steal Duke from Captain Planet or anything

I have to admit that I first heard of EDF in the E3 2001 trailer, but it's not exclusive to the Duke, and has been used elsewhere as mentioned by others here.

I'm surprised they haven't, since Radar Group, which 3d Realms seems to be a part of, trademarked the term "Original Thinking".

I'd say that 'Original Thinking' would be a slogan, not just a random grouping of two words, so it's totally legitimate to trademark it.
