Speaking as one of the original mappers on that game...

You're welcome.

Wall to wall was actually my favorite map in the shareware version. I didn't know it was made by Joe until I saw the FAQ.

My favorite maps I did for the game were Eight Ways to Hell, The Grand Vomitorium, and A Boulder Vision. I was more fond of the EROTT levels, firstly because I had more of them in that project, and secondly they were technically better, as Tom and I figured out how to trick the engine by that point into doing things the base ROTT game didn't do.

Sounds like you had a lot of fun with that.

I never really gave EROTT a decent try, but I did play a bit of the "Dog level" (No clue what it's called). It was a blast.

Hmm....

/me loads up EROTT again.

Great review. I wonder if he was commenting as he played or added it later. Oh and I like the fact that he said BLOOD was the best game of all time.

Well, I'm definitely going to buy ROTT if they can really process my credit cards directly, since PayPal is not supported here. I would also like to get Blake Stone if they will ship them to Serbia. Oh and Wolfenstein3D. I already got some crappy Xplosiv re-release, but a nice cardboard-boxed Apogee version would be nice (unless I'm completely off track there).

What's the advantage of those over playing via dosbox?

I appreciated the fact that I could apt-get install dosbox on my Debian Linux machine and then install the game right from the CD (which of course I still have). Works great!

Like how to open this locked door to the right of the start on the first level.
I think most, if not all, of those sites are gone now. I couldn't really find any.

You could buy Bernie Yee's Player's Guide for 18 cents plus shipping through Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Rise-Triad-Off...2090806&sr=8-7

Specifically with regards to the locked door to the right of the start of the first level, that's a timed door that opens after two minutes have elapsed.

Personally, I prefer using DOSBox.

That's a shame.

I don't think it would be worth it.
I'm not really digging the game enough for that.

Yes, I have figured that out on my own in the month since that post. Thanks anyway.

Look, we don't sell a lot of games on CD anymore. Saying you're not going to buy it because it's not delivered on a CD is kind of silly. And somewhat insulting to us. It's like saying we're worthy of a purchase merely because of some printed label on the CD, and not because of the game which is the whole point here.
While I really want the gratification of having a collection of retail games (one of them being Rott) I've been mulling this post over, and have decided that I will get RotT once I have my credit card. I have a question, though:

So the download includes all the extra content you guys ever made for RotT?

As I've said before... Between the downloadable file in our store, and the "ROTT Goodies Pack", this is all the content that would have been on the combined ROTT/EROTT CD Master disc. With the exception of some shareware games, which you can get here anyway.

Some of the content went in the paid download, some is in the free pack - I forget the breakdown at the moment of all that, and what went where.
