You're not enough of a nerd, or you would've used the [spoiler] tag.
Spoiler:

Anyway, yeah, I liked Prey's story.

I had s0000 much fun playing it!! Storyline was great, and the deaths of some of the characters were unbelievable but however made the storyline seem much better.

I liked the story well enough. It didn't seem to play much of a role in a lot of the gameplay (though the stories in FPS games rarely do), but at least it had one. It's obvious that some thought went into the storyline, which is more than can be said for most shooters.

Did you ever see the original japanese version? The rangers were evolved from actual dinosaurs, and they TRANSFORMED into their "zords".

The story was basic, but the way you viewed it was awesome, and it was mostly centered around Tommy and his girlfriend, and this relationship fact was layed down in the first several minutes of gamepley. Now that you're through with the girl, you can't do the same thing twice. You'd have to make the emotional story up from drawing board.

The story was mainly focused on the two, and then Art Bell provided the fact that stuff was happening outside of this story, and that was it. Background story: this was what made Quake 4 flourish and this is what weakened PREY.

Don't expect a symilar story in P2EY and\or PR3Y. I really liked the way the story was used here, but it needs to be improved apon. Some good background stories will likely happen because we have no emotional primary conflict the next time around.

My two cents. You can use P2EY and PR3Y if you want.

I think the story is well worked out for the sequel at this moment of time, its just getting around to making Tommys one liners, designing puzzles, and the Designing of new enemies, but knowing a good, planed story, thats probably worked out as well, there just waiting for input from he consumer!

Only thing I want to know is where dose Tommy put his Wrench, his Riffle, all those grenade creatures, his leech gun, his auto cannon, his Slimy gunny thingy, and his creature launcher thingy?
oh and who would forget that disembodied hand?

It was alright. I wouldn't say it's awe-inspiring. I'm hoping that DNF will be the FPS that will take my breath away.

I liked the story. I just wish the environment had been a little more interactive. There was some of that in the beginning - the bar stools, toilet, slot machine but not much later on.

Also, having grandfather die early in the game added the opportunity of having him talk to Tommy through "visions." This would have allowed some more story exposition by letting him tell the story "on the move" and and letting Grandfather help Tommy if he got stuck in a particularly difficult puzzle.

Gah! I hope your being sarcastic Power Rangers is almost as annoying as Barney.

I thought Preys story was fairly straight forward. I felt the sideline details are really what made it stand out.

The story was ok, but it was the idea that I loved - an ancient, living, parasitic, inside-out, cyborg planetoid-spaceship that goes around seeding planets with intelligent life and then returning thousands of years later to harvest them like vegetables. That was what really got me hooked, since the gameplay was so-so.

I wish there could have been more anecdotal information littered throughout the game, perhaps in the form of interactive screens or conversations with the Hiders. I love games that let you "discover" the story, without necessarily focusing you on it with lots of cut-scenes or whatever.

I want to know more about this Sphere - where did it come from? How did it start? Was it designed from scratch by some mad genius, or did it evolve and then develop some kind of symbiotic relationship with the Keepers, or get taken over and made into a cyborg world by them? Did the Keepers invent human life or did they get it from somewhere and then use it to seed Earth? If so, why humans? Are they special somehow, given that some seem to be able to become "warriors"? And what about the Hunters? Were they once a peaceful, spiritual race too, perhaps? It seemed like there could be this rich sci-fi universe behind Prey, which I only caught a glimse of in the game.

Re: Who here thought Prey had a good story?
I liked the story as well. And as someone mentioned, not only the story, but especially the way how you experience it. It is really like being in a movie. There were some "wow" scenes, where you just had to stop for a while and look around in awe (plus excellent soundtrack, of course).

But story itself was good I think. Of course, sometimes you knew what is coming (like "mutation" of girlfriend - similar thing was e.g. in D3 and Q4 as well), but anyway, it was gripping and you just wanted to continue.

My only bigger rebuke might be the end. I mean, from the early parts of a game I feared that our hero will not only defeat the enemy, but destroy the Sphere as well - and my worries were fulfilled. I mean I know that in games the hero usually kills everybody, but alone destroy a Sphere big as a moon? Alone destroy the whole ancient civilization? Oh, come on...

But apart from this "flaw in beauty", the game was great and the story as well. I really enjoyed it.
